(1st to 8th) My initial thoughts are to visit France, Switzerland, Northern Italy, Austria, Czech Republic and Home through Germany. If we are unlucky with the weather we will divert to wherever it is flyable (as we did in 2002). If any of our Continental Europa Friends would like to join in they will be most welcome. We shall not book any hotels ahead so as to leave us totally flexible. In the past we have never been stuck for accommodation. Anybody interested in participating, please drop me a line with your details to combined.merchants@virgin.net or phone on 01495785499. Best wishes, William == == == == ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:46:40 AM PST US Subject: Europa-List: AFSAFE seatbelts From: Erich Trombley --> Europa-List message posted by: Erich Trombley Tom writes, "Hi Erich Did you mount the inertial reels on the same anchor point that the Europa harnesses use? Sorry, but I can't remember what I paid for them. Purchased them at Sun-N-Fun many many years ago. Prior to that stage of construction you may want to look at the appropriate FAA advisory circular. I followed Bob Berube's example and tied the shoulder belts to the fuse seam line just behind the baggage bulkhead with a big reinforcing hardpoint layup and a sturdy aluminum bracket Ira N224XS ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 11:12:06 AM PST US From: "Fergus Kyle" Subject: Europa-List: Shoulder harness --> Europa-List message posted by: "Fergus Kyle" There was a thread regarding the ideal anchor point being above the shoulder line to prevent crushed vertibrae in the event of a high-G stop. Has anyone evolved a high anchor point (say, based on a cable point in the after baggage bay area) or similar? Mounting the inertial reel to the back of the seat is not the best place. The area is TO LOW. In a crash that point will cause you to have compression fractures of the back. The shoulder harness needs to go horizontal or upward from the top of your shoulders. Check with any belt manufacturer. I installed inertial reels in mine but I made a bracket that I glassed to the top near the rear bulkhead. Having spent time in the military, I learned a bunch about aircraft safety and design. My shoulder straps don't really get in the way but they are "there". I am very glad I installed them. They are very comfortable. I highly recommend them for safety and comfort. Jim Nelson N15JN ________________________________ Message 13 ____________________________________ Time: 02:09:40 PM PST US Subject: Re: Europa-List: Shoulder harness From: James H Nelson --> Europa-List message posted by: James H Nelson Ferg, As usual, I have that in my aircraft. I made aluminum brackets that I glassed to the top and mounted the inertial reel to it. Bob does not have an inertial reel on his design. He does solve the angular issue that Europa does not. Having a fixed belt causes you to leave the straps loose while working around the cockpit. In doing so you might "forget" to snug them up during take off and landing. Its one more thing to go wrong in an emergency that can really hurt you. It's my opinion but I reached a ripe old age of 60 and I intend to get alot older with out breaking anything. If it goes beyond the capabilities of my installed systems, it won't make any difference. The Europa is very strong as demonstrated several times by our colleagues who have met misfortune. Check the history. Jim Nelson (I just have safety issues that should be solved to protect your butt and this is the only major one) ________________________________ Message 14 ____________________________________ Time: 02:43:21 PM PST US From: Paul Stewart Subject: Europa-List: Regulator and things --> Europa-List message posted by: Paul Stewart Can anyone who has wired their a/c with OV crowbar mod using electric Bob's module/relay etc possibly supply me with a picture of what the wiring actually looks like. I had to change our DNS server, this caused some ISP's DNS to temporarily point to our "under construction" page. This did not effect everyone. For those that were effected, the Europa web page should be up soon as there ISP's upload the new info. Also, I did not choose to renew the incorrect europaaircraft.com domain when it expired last month. So if you try to use that instead of europa-aircraft.com then you will not see anything. If anyone wants to desperately get on the Europa factory page before there server uploads the new DNS info than they can go straight to our IP which is: http://216.87.181.57 Happy Building & Flying!
