Paul. Since it is best to ensure the reserve side is allways full it is on the "filler" or starboard side. However a point to remember is that if you happen to put any water or dirty fuel in it is most likely to all settle in there, rather than "jump" the tunnel ! (that would be just great should you have needed to switch to reserve only to pick up water !) So it is imperative to do a substantial water drain check on the STARBOARD side. Also occassionally switch to the reserve side when established in the cruise after filling to prove the supply. regards Bob H G-PTAG ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul McAllister" Subject: Europa-List: Fuel reserve > --> Europa-List message posted by: "Paul McAllister" > > Hi all, > > Can someone tell me when the tank drains down to empty on one side leaving only the reserve left, on what side is the reserve fuel sitting, assuming that the fuel selector is on "Main". > > Thanks, Paul > > ________________________________ Message 7 _____________________________________ Time: 02:25:54 PM PST US From: jrolfs@c21affiliated.com Subject: Europa-List: ride/buy --> Europa-List message posted by: jrolfs@c21affiliated.com JR LAKE MILLS, WIS. 1-608-212-4702 jrolfs@c21affiliated.com 3-15-2004 I need a 1st time ride in a XS and to ck out landing on grass vs pavement CLOSE TO SO. There are a number of things I don't "let" her do, but she does them in spite of it, including building the plane. Kidding aside, you'll find a number of wives involved, some of them pilots and builders. Flight Crafters is again planning their Annual Open House for Thursday April 15th between 5 and 8pm. Food and beverages will be served. Last year was a huge success with many builders and wanna be builders. Several "in progress" projects will be available for viewing with staff available to answer builder questions. We encourage an RSVP via -e-mail off-line to give us an idea of how many to have enough food available. Hope to see all of you again and look forward to seeing new faces. If you take off with fuel in the main side below the saddle, and believe the reserve to be full, well how do you know after your last flight that the turbulence, landing etc didn't put a significant amount of the reserve into the main, by splashing over the saddle. If you always fly with a minimum of fuel that ensures the saddle is always covered, well your fuel state pre departure is always known. If you run a fuel return line (the one that contains the orifice) into the reserve side, then you will be continually refilling that side even once the fuel level drops below the saddle. This insures you have a full reserve in spite of turns, rough landings, and turbulence. Mike Duane A207 Redding, California XS Conventional Gear CM & rudder pedals with cables installed.
