Hi how about the friction damper being set to tight? this would cause the
bracket to deform under load, I have set my damper to release on a 8 pound
load,
It seems to operate quite smoothly,

Hi! Nigel.
Thanks for the advice. I know I sent the LED display and the motor back to
Menzimer but can't remember about the relay so bingo you just may have hit
on the problem.

I am pleased to report that I have discovered the cause of the rough
running of my 912S (at least I think I have).
I tried balancing my carb's and discovered that they were OK at certain
rev's and wildly out at others. This, together with the article in the
recent Europa News, prompted me to check the throttle cables and lo and
behold, one was a bit 'sticky'. It was OK at fully closed and fully open
but there was a point in between, as I was opening the throttle, when
one cable hesitated for a moment which must have been putting the carb's
out of balance.
There was a slight kink in the inner cable by the throttle lever which
seemed to be causing it. I have straightened this out and lubricated
the inner cable as much as I was able. The engine now seems to run much
smoother at most rev's although I have not flight tested it yet. I think
I will probably have to eventually replace the cable to ensure that the
problem does not happen again.

Jim-
The open houses at Europa and Flite Crafters are Thursday and Friday. We
had planned on spending all day those two days at Lakeland. This may also
be the case with other builders. Any chance of changing it to coincide with
these dates? We would really like to attend.

I don't understand why these cables can't be supplied with a teflon liner
(which would require stainless steel cables for best effect).

Hi Mike,
You hit the nail on the head. The bolt going through the
bell crank bearings was a little lose because I had been
messing with the assembly a couple times. I tightened it
and the problem is solved.
Thanks to all who responded.
Mike, enjoy SNF.

Gidday,
Now I know there are quite a few gentlemanly characters around, but there
is a cranky old Queenslander, who by the way doesn't follow football or
cricket so don't try and talk to him about anything else other than
Europas, who turns the big 60 on 8/4/04. So, if you know Kingsley Hirst
wish him a happy birthday then will you. Oh, he knows how to breed
aviators, all the sons fly. He is rather anal about gramar and speling, let
alone if you dare spell his sirname incorectly, but "Hirst" will get the
desired effect. Remember, 8/4/04 !
