I'm presently trying to manufacture some lenses as well. Could you send me a copy to my private e-mail ( hpreusser@tiscali.ch ). Duncan This forum is the most amazing source of information .... within two hours of my message going out a kind chap at Boeing "patched" me 8 pages of method and temperature suggestions! Should you wish I can send it through? The Air World one stands too high to get into my trailor safely and has a different base, the existing Gold Wing one needs to be only about 1/4 inch higher to be futher away from the heat of the bulb. I've had a female plug roughly cut in aluminium but have a lot of "burring" to do to get the final shape cut out then I was going to try the vacuum thing. Just skip reading the 8 page detail above it could be possible to do with some combination of methods. regards Bob H G-PTAG ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ami McFadyean" Subject: Re: Europa-List: Vacuum Forming Perspex. > --> Europa-List message posted by: "Ami McFadyean" > > >>Gold Wing .............. before they went belly up.<< > > I rather think they made a tactical withdrawal from the market, after taking > numerous paid-up orders that were never delivered. > > Presumably the Kunzleman (Airworld) fin covers are no good to you? > > I was going down a similar route to provide a more streamlined cover over a > cylindrical fresnel lense. The normal collet gives you about 6.3cm. If you are using the drill chuck it is about 7cm. To obtain the best dynamic balance I had to fix a large piece of steel to the backplate. Washers weren't heavy enough! Preferably I need to borrow two digital balances capable of weighing up to 2 KGS or there thereabouts. The roots will probably weigh about 2 KGS and the tips less than 1 KG. If any one can help with the loan of a suitable balance for a couple of days, I can fly to your nearest strip to collect and then return. Any where in England or Wales is OK. Many thanks in anticipation. I think it will be a great improvement on my current right angle drill which needs 11cm. Rather it is about broad shoulders and enabling the occupant to sit closer to the aircraft centreline, which provides more headroom and removes the doorframe from your arm. So it's worth doing whether you have, anticipate having or have not (and never will have) a LA.
