--> Europa-List message posted by: "Alan Stewart" <alan.stewart@blueyonder.co.uk> =93Calling all avionics specialists.=94 The 8 year old Navaid Devices Autopilot in my Europa has gone unserviceable again. I sent the equipment (display head and servo) back to the manufacturers in Tennessee (which costs an arm and a leg is transport costs =96 about =A390) and they repaired the unit, only to have it fail again on its return, in exactly the same manner, about ten minutes after re-installation ! Does anyone know of anyone in this country with the necessary expertise, who can take on the job ? Obviously, I don=92t want to send it back to the States again, only to have it fail for a second time, and with the flying =91season=92 upon us, I=92m looking for a quicker turnaround. The symptoms are that =93left=94 servo commands are realised, but =93right=94 commands are ignored ! I think that there is some sort of short on the circuit board. Oh, I live in S.E. England !! Subject: TWO STAGE HATTERS FLY-IN. WEDNESDAY
--> Europa-List message posted by: "bryan allsop" <info@blackballclub.fsnet.co.uk> After my bum numbing Lands End fly in experience last week, I was 'volunteered' to seek retribution on the Bath and Bristol set by arranging the next one. I cant find any freebies way up north, so I thought I would try to make it a little more interesting for the Southerners amongst us. How's about meeting at Sheffield at 11.am to fly on to Sandtoft for the bacon butty fetish. Both are in this months' Flyer freebies. Sheffield has a superb new runway, but it is geared to be a mini airport, not a flying club. they like to fax joining instructions before letting you in, but I will have a word with them to see if we can get round this. Sandtoft is a flying club with a good feeding hole. Hopefully we can fly on to Sandtoft as a squadron. Perhaps we can shake a few guys from north of Derbyshire to join us as well. Please let me know if you fancy the trip so that I can give the venues a nod. Happy hat dropping. Bryan

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Paul McAllister" <paul.mcallister@qia.net> Hi All, Well I put on my Nomex suit, gloves and crash helmet and let N378PJ take to the air. The flight was 20 minutes long staying in the pattern. It flies nicely and seems to be in perfect trim. After 5 years and 9 months of building it is really nice to finally fly it. I have many people to thank, John, Andy and Neville at Europa, but my special thanks goes to Graham Singleton. His encouragement and experience got me to this point with a better aircraft. Paul

    Subject: Tail Ribs
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Alan Stills" <astills785@earthlink.net> After getting my top on this weekend, I'm looking ahead to rudder and tail. I find that my ribs are too long for the sternpost installation. I can move the top rib to fit but the bottom rib is up against the rear bulkhead as it show in the manual and is 25mm to long. Has anyone had this occurrence and what was the fix? Cutting the bottom rib to fit the rear bulkhead? Moving the front of the rib up or down does not solve this problem. It is shaped for the front of the tail and not for the rear bulkhead. Al Stills A095

Reading about first flights has a good psychological effect for me being one of those still frustrated that I can't actually do one yet. Regards Kingsley

--> Europa-List message posted by: JohnDHeykoop@aol.com Hi All I have emailed a copy of the warning light schematic I got from TruTrak to Ivor Phillips and Alan Haynes. If there are any other builders who would like to have a copy, please let me know (if you are a UK builder the PFA will insist that you have an autopilot warning light). Likewise, if there are any other UK builders who would like to base their DigiTrak PFA mod application on my PFA mod #10711 please let me know and I'll email you a copy. It is nothing much, I simply asked for approval to install the DigiTrak as per the existing Europa club Navaid mod with a few minor changes. This got me a positive response within about a month, which is pretty good going for a PFA mod. Regards John Heykoop
