Over the last few years the composite construction demonstration area at the
PFA Rally has been a little neglected. The Europa Club has been asked to
try and improve matters so we need volunteers!
First the bribery. You will get free entry to the Rally (all days + camping
if required) for doing two, two hour session (or equivalent). You will get
to keep the beautiful demonstration piece you produce. We hope to have
available suitable moulds for a (rear mounted) battery box, air vents etc
but please let me know if you want to make something else. This is a
perfect opportunity for those of you who want to make something small but
are deterred by having to buy new epoxy, glass etc. Volunteers for less
hours will be very welcome but PFA largess will not extend to free tickets.
What we need are two people at a time to man the stand. So why not do it
with a co-builder (or friend if you still have any). If you cannot persuade
a friend I will be happy to pair you up with some other suitably insane
aircraft builder. The proposed slot are 10.00 to 12.00, 12.00 to 14.00, and
14.00 to 16.00 on each of the three days (but we will try to arrange things
to fit your attendance).
The task will be to talk to those who visit the stand, answer questions and
to demonstrate working in composites. We are not expecting you to be give a
lecture on the subject just to talk to those attending about you experience.
We will provide some example pieces in various states of construction and we
expect to have a very nicely built Tri-gear fuselage (with the High Top
option) that you can show visitors round. It is complete with the top on
but unglazed and unpainted so you can see the work.
You do not have to make something specific but all the basis material and
equipment will be to hand. We do suggest you bring your own gloves (for
comfort but we will have disposables available if you forget), face masks,
overalls and any favourite mixing sticks etc.
Please let me know via e-mail or phone your name, preferred hours and
contact details

Ian,
I hope you are successful in your quest. First, such a task is
an education in itself - always more to be learnt than taught. Second, this
is the kind of display that will interest those only just starting and with
many questions. Third, the endeavour as a whole gains a great deal from the
display of ordinary ('scuse me) folk getting on with it. Fourth, the lure of
free entry and good times with similarly-involved builders is much more
entertaining than just tramping the stalls.
Wished I could join you! perhaps next year!
Good luck,
Ferg

Please accept my thanks for having sent practical info on the mounting of
FACET pumps as requested in my recent query. I had lost the instructions,
but had a sample installation nearby (sans owner) to consult. Since
receiving the answer I have mounted the pair in acceptable sites and
appreciate the speed of reply. This forum is a wonder..................

Evening All
I spent a couple of hours with David Hunter at Kemble (UK) this
afternoon and have the following telephone number for NSI. From the UK
001 360 435 8109, David called this number and spoke to NSI within the
last hour. There is also an email at info@nsiaero.com
David also asks me to tell European NSI users that he has a range of
spare parts available in stock. David can be contacted on his mobile

Dan,
All it took to get A055 into shape was to lower the stop on the
containment about 1/4". Travel is now +14 and -5. As stated earlier,
adjustment of the mass balance arm will add to one direction and
subtract from the other...
