Hi David
Would you mind copying me in on those details? I currently use a
fuselage dolly which is part of a single handed rigging kit with my box
trailer. However, as the aeroplane is permanently hangered I intend to
sell the trailer and rigging kit so will require a replacement jack.
Thanks
Pete

Hello, Dave Cope!
There were photos of a monowheel jack in an early edition of Europa
Flyer; this unit was made by a French builder out of timber.
I have replicated his design using aluminium box section left over from
a microlight project here at Shobdon, and I use this jack every year
when my inspector does the annual permit renewal inspection.
Contact me off line for more details.

Ron,
Further to Ferg's possible concerns, and with the disclaimer that I am
definitely not a metallurgist, you may also want to confirm that
graphite based lubricants will not create potential galvanic corrosion
issues with the aluminum cs03 and cs07 bushes.
Cheers,
Pete

Ron,
Although I made provision for a lube tube into both tufnol
bushings, I read an admonition to avoid petrolium based products because
they tend to swell the tufnol. Can't confirm, but worth looking into.
Suggest you dunk a hunk into intended grease and see what hasppens over
time.............
Cheers, Ferg

Subject: | Starter kickback |
--> Europa-List message posted by: nigelcharles@tiscali.co.uk
There was a thread recently about kickback during start with the 912S. This
can be quite vicious and I had it happen quite often especially on cold
starts. Apparently it can also lead to damage to the starter sprag clutch.
The problem is worse with the 912S than the 912 or the 914 due to its higher
compression ratio. It was pointed out that it happens because, with the
Rotax ignition system there is no provision for retarding the ignition during
start. With this in mind it occurred to me that the speed of ignition may
be slightly slower if the engine was started with just one ignition system
working. I have since found that I get less kickbacks when I start using
just one ignition system. It is obviously important to remember to reselect
both magnetos after engine start. This technique is only possible if you
have separate magneto and starter switches although it would be possible
to add extra wiring to short out one ignition system during start with a
key starter.

Phew, what a day=85
The first private spaceship got into space. Congratulations, guys!
I finally cleared my Europa Forum email backlog (it had got to well over
1000 emails). So many planes have flown since I was last up to date:
congratulations to all their builders, and apologies for being tardy
offering my congratulations. I won=92t bore anyone with very overdue replies
to their Forum queries.
And this evening I get to work on my plane again now I=92ve got a load of mods
approved by PFA Engineering :-). Scorchio!
Now for a mad rush to fit AoA sensors, wingtip lighting, tie-downs,
aluminium fuel lines, the cockpit module and a million and one other items
before I have to pack up the workshop to move house!
Cheers,
Jeremy

Peter et al,
Fair enough. I have also a "white powder lubricant" which is peculiarly like
powdered mica. I wonder if this is so?
