Hi Rowland,
Could I beg a favour. Over the past few years I have become good friends
with Andy and Neville and I would like to keep in contact. Would you say hi
for me and ask them for their personal contact details.
Thanks, Paul

Hi Gerry,
Sad news, and probably just plan poor management of an otherwise sound
company. Could I beg a favour. Over the past few years I have become good
friends with Andy and Neville and I would like to keep in contact. Would
you say hi for me and ask them for their personal contact details.
Thanks, Paul

Hi All,
Just started fitting the doors, everything seems strait forward
until on page 35-2 it shows a plywood insert on the fuselage side of the
hinge. like an plonker I presumed these were already fitted. (wrong) can
anyone tell me where about in the good book the fitting of these plywood
inserts is shown? If not I presume it's a case of floxing in the ply and
covering with four ply's of bid. The gap from the bottom of the hinge to the
fuselage at the front is 8mm and at the back 4mm.
Cheers Danny

Hi All,
I can't say what is happening in the UK, as I only have responsibility for
managing their US office.
As far as the US office goes, we are scaling back here quite a bit for now.
As of July 15 the office will be available on a part time basis only. This
is due in part to the fact that the US dollar has not been worth much
against the UK pound for quite some time. Though the company initially felt
it prudent to sell kits at a loss in the US to stay in the market, the
exchange rate continues to be unfavorable longer than expected. Though I
will miss being here full time, I do feel that this is a positive step for
the company to reorganize, focusing it's assets where they are needed most
on new developments & better parts stores.
We will also be selling our two US demonstrators. However, we are currently
planning to keep our hanger & office at the Lakeland Florida airport.
I will continue to remain on a part time, volunteer basis to support our
existing builders.
The company president, and managing director, Keith Wilson, also informs me
that he is very committed to supporting our existing US builders, and
delivering any backordered parts to US builders.
I was also informed that the company has future plans for the US, and
Canada, possibly to include the upcoming Sport Plane category in the US, and
the existing Advanced Ultralight category in Canada.
Finally, the UK has just informed me that we will not be attending the
fly-in at Oshkosh this year. I do still hope that many of you fly-in with
your Europa as planned however. The reserved area will still be available.
Happy Building & Flying!

I heard today that the europa office is going to adopt a part-time
schedule of weekends, due to lack of revenue. This is quite unsettling
news. While i know there is a strong community of europaphiles out
there (here), to have a plane become an orphan when it is only half
finished is not a nice feeling. How's it going in the UK?

Hello all,
First thank you John for the e-mail letting us U.S. builders know what is
going on. I know that John has been doing an excellent job of mainaining
support here even when he is getting none from the U.K.
By keeping the office open on the weekends at NO PAY I personally think he
is going above and beyond and I hope people who are waiting for parts and
planes realize that the current problems are not Johns fault. Lets be
helpful to him and I am sure he will help us all back.
I personally feel that the failures at Europa now (and this is MY OPINION)
can only be laid at the feet of management. The product is just too good to
go away. The tooling is done the flight testing and hundreds of flying
planes are a testement to the design and engineering. I hope that if the
current management can't get its act together they will consider selling it
to someone who can.
As to the Oskosh plans, there are some changes as Europa will not be there.
This means no factory sponsered get togethers. I will update the europa-usa
website tomorrow to reflect this and keep the list of who is going current.
Send me e-mails if there are changes in your plans.
Thanks for letting me spout.

You have been great and most supportive. I am sure you are going to get
many thankyous and wish you well messages. I am hoping that whatever
kind of reorganization occurs that you are part of it and in a stronger
role.
Because of the ? status of the Europa organization I found a builder to
make me a trailer and have ordered one.
Are there any long wings available? If so, I would be tempted to grab
them up!

John,
Sorry to hear the news. How and at what times, will the US builders,
with parts backordered, be able to contact you, to check status, etc?

John and Patty,
I am so sorry to see things turning out as they have. Rest assured that no
responsibility falls on your shoulders. You guys, and Bob Berube before
you, have done an outstanding job in all respects. The US office couldn't
have been run better. You have our respect and admiration for a job well
done under very difficult circumstances.
As others have stated, the Europa is a great airplane. With such a good
product, a half-wit could have made a success of the company. It's a pity
that the UK team couldn't manage to make a go of it. I think we'd all be
happy if the company was sold to new ownership.
Best wishes to John and Patty in their future endeavors. We'll miss you.

John, brother, Sorry to hear the news... If there's is anything I can do for you
let me know. If you need to use the Europa Forum for anything let me know. We
could set up a parts listing of what you have, or need to clear. An inventory
status page, what ever. Email me or give me a call.
Builders, if you come across vendors for replacement parts let me know and I'll
set up a vendor or parts info section on the site.
