Hi All,
Actually the number Jerry quoted was right, however the 914 uses a Denso plug,
not an NGK. I asked Rotax about this, they said that NGK does not make the exact
heat range that they wanted.
Happy Building!!

Power is not the issue. The 100hp Rotax provides plenty especially in
conjunction with a constant speed prop. The problem with heavy engines is
that you have less weight available for baggage. The 1370lb limit is a
structural limit not a performance limit.

Hello email list,
Ray Bedford called me this afternoon and asked if I would be prepared to forward
an email for general distribution to the list on behalf of the UK Europa staff.
Subject to the content, I said I would. I have also copied to all the staff
with an email address supplied by Ray.
Finally, just to be totally clear, the Europa Club does not run, own or manage
the email list and has no wish to control who has access to it.
The email is reproduced in its entirety below.

THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL EUROPA MANAGEMENT(Intl) LTD STATEMENT
OPEN LETTER - To: Dave Bosomworth / Chairman Europa Club
From: The Undersigned
Many thanks for your time this afternoon. As discussed, please find below a brief
statement which has been prepared by myself on behalf of Europa's employees.
As a group we request, and would be grateful if you would ensure that all
Europa Club Members are informed as you feel necessary.
"We are fully aware that it is no secret that Europa has been, and still is suffering
from some particular difficulties. We have received many messages of support
over the past few days/weeks for which we are always grateful. However,
the nature of these messages is always centred around two/three individuals.
We would like the Club to be reminded that we are a very small team of 10 people
and we have been, and still are trying to keep things moving along as best
we can under very restrictive conditions. Indeed, some of these individuals
have been working under extreme pressure for a full 8 hours a day, 5 days a week
for many months now. We are a very small organisation, with each employee
having very specific responsibilities to discharge - so, very much like the Premiership
Football Teams, thanks very much for praising the striker, but please
don't forget about the Goalkeeper !
Sadly we have also received many misguided and unhelpful comments from various
Europa builders. We cannot, of course, differentiate between those builders who
are, or are not actual members of the Europa Club, but perhaps an announcement
within the Club circles will help all to understand and appreciate the difficulties
that all those here are working under. It has to be realised that the
misinformation and rumour currently circulating around the Forum are just that.
There have been no formal announcements either to the public or the employees.
As nobody is in possession of any facts, we as a team are unable to offer any guidance
or reassurance about the future. However, as a dedicated team we undertake
to ensure that once Europa breaks out into clearer air, and we strongly
believe that it will, we shall continue to serve the Europa community to the best
of our abilities. The unique thing about Europa, and it is unique, is that
even now after many months of very difficullt working conditions, every one
of us still wants to be here, still believes in the product, and wants desperately
for Europa to continue from strength to strength. We believe that given
the chance, it will........................."

I have today staggered down to the Post Office with a stack of
packets for new and late-renewing members.
I hope I have dispatched the correct combinations of CD-ROMs, Europa
Flyers, mambership badges, etc, to supplement what you have already
picked up at the PFA Rally - things were quite hectic on the Club
stand most of the time, and I could have mis-recorded some details.
Please check that everything is correct on your confirmation form,
and let me know at <memsec@europaclub.org.uk> if I need to correct
anything.
For most enquirers, I didn't have time to go into detail about the
Europa Rescue Service. If you would like to join those who are
willing to volunteer assistance to other Europa pilots in trouble,
please let me know at <memsec@europaclub.org.uk> and I'll send you a
form without obligation.
regards
Rowland

Found this recently on the Rospeller web site. May be of interest to those
with VPs.
Not sure what "satisfactory" engine life means!
DuncanMcF.
ROTAX recommends the following combination of RPM and manifold pressure to
insure satisfactory engine life and maximum fuel economy:
75% power = 5000 engine RPM and 27.2 inches of manifold press.
65% power = 4800 engine RPM and 26.5 inches of manifold press.
55% power = 4300 engine RPM and 26.3 inches of manifold press.

Hi Nigel,
Your point is well taken.
Reading from a flyer extolling the CAM 125 installation in the Europa (which
includes, I note that the gross weight has been increased and approved (in
Canada) at 1500 lbs. How that translates into the Europas overall structural
strength is beyond my expertise. The flyer describing the install was
printed by Airspeed Products, PO Box 127, 5010 - 48th Ave., Delta, B.C. CAN
V4K 3N6,
email: amhd@island.net
The flyer notes that the modified CAM 125 engine weight (including
alternator, starter, and exhaust system) is 231 lbs. I am unsure as to
whether or not this figure includes coolant, radiators, and perhaps
additional weight in a robust cowl with integrated monowheel fairing.
I do know that Alex Bowman's first career was that of a CAN military test
pilot, and his engineer designs, fabricates, and sells airframe accessories
for the Dehaviland Beaver and Cessna 180 float planes. They appear to be
well grounded in what they're up to. Alex lives on a somewhat remote island
near Vancouver Island and mentioned that he does not yet have -but is
anticipating- internet service. If and when he gets it, I hope we'll hear
more about this CAM 125.

I'll vouch for John's paint job. I saw his plan at Sun-n-fun this year. He
said it was his first attempt at spray painting. If this is his first, I
can't imagine what it would look like if he gets really good!!!!
Looks like a pro did it.
