You take an old cleco and grind a cutting edge into the offset tip, then use it
as a boring tool (with the shank oiled) through the hinge hole.
Deuce ! ( only kidding, I used a standard drill too ...)

" The same 3.3mm drill used for the hinges worked fine
for the rivets. Actually it was difficult to _not_

hinges. Due to the proximity of the two surfaces of
the "V", once the drill pops out of the flange, it
hits the next surface almost immediately and makes a
hole."
Indeed - it's a good idea to put a thin Al plate under the hinge when
drilling to protect the vee - although as previously discussed, you'll
probably end up having to put holes in it.
As an item of interest, the glider wing ailerons are so thin that the vee is
even tighter and there is no option but to put the holes in it in order to
pull the rivets.

Hi All;
I searched archives for text on static port problems and didn't find much helpful
stuff. Mine too broke off and I'm getting erroneous readings of airspeed and
altitude. I tried ordering another couple of them from the Lakeland, Florida
office but they told me they had no idea when they might get them in.
Does anyone have a good alternative or other ideas to get me back in the air?

They just priced themselves out of the market I guess. Unless their lecture
will tell me how to get another 10mph!
Not sure that there'll be a very big audience at that well known centre of

I believe the June issue of the Europa Club newsletter was delivered
to most UK members by early last week (say 13th July). Delivery to
overseas members would take a little longer. We normally plan to get
the June issue to people about mid or even early June, so apologies
are in order. The problems were partly at the printing firm and so
not entirely within our control.
I'm getting some feedback that indicates there may be a further
problem; one or two UK people tell me they still haven't received
their copy.
If you are still waiting to receive EF #41, (and if you have paid
your subs!) please contact me direct at <memsec@europaclub.org.uk>
(NOT on the list, please).

necessary connections at this stage. Bought my kit with the CM already

IMHO this is the definitive way to do it. No messing with a lever clamped
to the torque tube under the seat. The working bit is easily visible and
accessible too.
It works equally well with the Navaid servo.

Paul,
A number of Europa pilots have found that venting the static line to cockpit
behind the panel provides a more accurate airspeed reading than using the
wing mounted probe or the original fuselage vents. I did this a long ago
and found it very successful. I now use the
static probe, without its black bung, as another pitot source for
"undercarriage not down" warning. (The PFA will not allow the pitot source
feeding the ASI to be used for anything else) Taking the static tube off
the instruments will get you back into the air very quickly.
Best wishes,
William
