William,
Regarding your question, the Floscan units pulse at different rates and
therefore have different fuel flow capabilities. Consequently, the
particular fuel management systems need to be software tuned, so that the
information is correctly calibrated. I mentioned my desire to use a
different Floscan to the usual one supplied by Grand Rapids to them, and
much to my surprise I was met with a warm offer to recalibrate it to suit
my needs. Now the cost was not mentioned, but if the warm reception to my
non-standard request is any indication, I am sure it will be either free of
very reasonable. Goodonya Grand Rapids.

It might be an idea to see if we can retrofit a Mr Funnel with a 70 micron

Have you checked ACS recently? The latest version of the Mr.Funnel,
v.F15C now has a 74 micron filter.

Perhaps replacement filters are available from Mr.Funnel to upgrade
your existing Mr.Funnels? Check with
http://www.mrfunnel.com/
They have numbers and e-mail posted for technical support. If it's a
problem to call from the UK, let me know and I'll call them from this
side of the pond.

Getting close to installing Cockpit Module. Installed the debris guard to protect
the fuel selector valve as per the manual.
Has anyone done anything to prevent stuff from coming through the slots for levers?
Or other guards?

Nope, and I need to. Did our first landing in weeks on wet grass, and the
crap that came through
onto the instrument panel was horrendous. Trouble is the mud stains the
nextel paint permanently. Blue panel is turning brown.
I thought a letterbox flap would do the trick. The brush/ bristle thingy
used to keep out draughts.

Actually, I thought that Mr Funnel had always been that size (70 microns or
thereabouts). The THREE that I have (all bought at different times,
different sources and now quite old) are all certainly less than 100 micron.
But I would hate to be argumentative.

Ron,
I found some white plastic roll which is about 3 inches wide and
1/16inch thick by (I bought) 3 feet. I am planning on affixing it to the
bottom of the tunnel roof on both sides, overlapping by about 1/4inch. I
expect the levers to part it locally and for it to seek its place back again
afterward.
I could send the source on your request.

Subject: | Facet pump mounting/Fuel Plumbing Setup |
--> Europa-List message posted by: Tony Renshaw <tonyrenshaw@optusnet.com.au>
Gidday,
I am in the process of mounting my fuel pumps as I build up my fuel system
in the module before bonding it in, soon. I am setting up for a 912S with
"no mechanical fuel pump, just 2 Facets". So, I have set it all up with the
Facet pumps inverted under the ply shelf that supports my finger brake
module. My question is, in the Facet instructions it mentions orientating
the pumps such that they are angled at 45 degrees upward, tank on low side,
so is my setup with them horizontal and inverted likely to be a problem??
The facets are an interruptor pump with a plunger valve that oscillates
within a chamber subject to an oscillating magnetic field. I can't figure
out looking at the diagram at
http://www.ppavionics.com/FacSolidState.htm
why 45 degrees is required other than if it has something to do with the
priming ability. I am not sure but the pump I am using, the 40108 can draw
a head of 18" as I recall, but I suppose the issue may be the fact that the
pump can only pump fuel uphill if primed, not prime itself. Can these pumps
prime themselves???
Lastly, if my fuel pumps are elevated and are approx at the height of the
saddle, and I don't have a mech fuel pump, is this setup got too many
hassles with it?? It is simply a good place to put everything, hanging
under or on this shelf that I have, but it may not be the wisest place
after all. Any help gratefully accepted.

Ron,
I am attempting to completely seal off the wheel well from the cockpit. I
recently acquired some 100% non porous parachute material from which I will
make boots to affix to the relevant parts. I have made up some formers from
fibreglass and 1' alum. push rod onto which the boots will be attached.
I'll see if I can dig up a few photos and forward them to you.
