Hi Ron,
Many years ago when I was turning wrenches on a ProRally car, we
used an oil thermostat and as I understand the system, it's main purpose
is to restrict the flow to the cooler so the oil warms up faster.
Typically they run about 10% through the cooler when "closed" (to
prevent sludging and and a cold slug of oil when they do open) and 90%
when open. Generally once they are open the engine is making enough heat
they stay that way. I don't recall the catalogue right off, but recently
I was helping a friend research t-stats for a Jabiru installation and
the t-stat simply replaced the "biscuit" style oil cooler adapter, so
there was no extra plumbing.
Getting the oil up to temp quickly sound like a great idea on an
engine that doesn't usually ground run too long before the takeoff load
is applied. (like most small planes).
BTW, did you and your partner ever get that X-Plane Europa
worked out?
Just my two cents,

Rick,
The only oil thermostat I''ve ever encountered was one which
bypassed the cold oil by the cooler untiul it warmed - otherwise we were
informed the cold, sludgy oil can burst the fine tubes in the cooler.

Brian,
It is my understanding that the two are interchangable (mixed with their
respective hardeners, that is).

Thanks Gerry.
It is looking as though these may be two different products. I was hoping
that they were compatible and could be mixed. I do not understand why I was

Can anyone out there take a minute to check the dimensions of the FL10 spacer and
send to me? It's a spacer that goes at the front connection of the rudder cables,
2 off, shown on Figure 4 Page 22-8.
Some of the items in my kit aren't marked and I'm having a tough time figuring
out which of the assorted spacers I have would work best. I have 4 of the OR9
spacers and maybe could use them on both sides?
Thanks in advance,

--> Europa-List message posted by: "nigel charles" <nigelcharles@tiscali.co.uk>
I thought I would pass on something I have recently discovered about the Classic
stainless exhaust.
The port rear manifold on mine has cracked right around the collar weld just after
the flange. It has been examined by CKT (the manufacturer) and they tell me
that there have been a few of these fail (all port rear). Apparently CKT did
not do the jigging and it was found that the port rear was slightly out of position.
All this was corrected about 18 months ago so anyone with one of these
exhausts older than this should check theirs for signs of cracking.
I must say that Chris Piper (the CKT representative I spoke to) was extremely helpful.
He is going to make another one for me inside 10 days for =A358 + VAT
which I think is very reasonable.

Thanks for the replies Simon and John. Never noticed that chart before. Will
have to pick up some tubing while I'm out.
Thanks again and happy building,

There are some downsides to flying in NZ...
There's no class A or B airspace
There are less than 10 controlled airfields with class C
airspace
Auckland International Airport charges US15 landing fees for a
Europa (if you can get in between the 747 landings that is)
There are lots of unmanned airfields
There's miles and miles of untamed bush to fly over
I can't work out why anyone would want to come here

Gidday,
Well if you only want someone in the UK as a finger brake supplier, the
answer is no. But, since the rest of the world is out here, the
manufacturer is Jamar Performance in the US, the part no is a US2002X and
the contact is Frank on

Prohibited except to registered hunters and sports people and we do not
have the right to bear arms. We also aren't allow to sue for personal
accident or injury as that's automatically covered by a government
accident insurance scheme and that really cuts down the cost of
insurance cover for a Europa.

Ron;
We have the Grand Rapids EIS. With over 500 + hrs on it. No problems at all.
It took 2 or 3 hrs to get comfortable with going from page to page to monitor the
engine
parameters. There is a favorite page function of which I use just about all the
time. It
has parameters which can be set for "high or low settings" on each item it monitors.
Its much better than the steam gauges in my opinion.

All
It appears that the classic is not the only Silencer" that has this problem.
Chris is working with me and the exact same thing has happened to my 912S
"silencer". The aft Port connector socket was not welded properly and has
broken loose.
I used a currency converter service I found on the web, and you are correct.
190 GBP = $349.64 USD . Ouch !!!
But if I can get it, I will have to pay the price. You guys in the UK sure
do have a lot of money. And I was under the impression the USA was where
things where expensive.
