Lighten up Valerie. It's just a joke. Don't be offended. It's not aimed at anyone.
I'm installing a 914F for my Europa.

Maybe it was that owners of Rotax 912F, 912S and 914F engines are dipsticks.

Hi all,
After removing LH tyre, I noticed the entire breaksystem to be greasy.
A further check revealed the brake fluid reservoir to be empty.
Anyone with a troubleshoot step by step plan?
Cheers.

How do you route Rotax 914 supply and return fuel lines on a monowheel from
near selector valve to motor?
Right side, left side, top?
I have a few year old engine installation manual and it calls for steel
braided fuel line to be used in tunnel. Has the recommendation for steel braid
now replaced with Fuel Injector Hose?
Does the hose in tunnel need some sort of sheath to protect it?
How do you attach hoses in tunnel?
Thx.

Ron,
Take a look at Monday 22, July 2002 under http://europa363.versadev.com/
This worked well for me. It also has less return back pressure than the way
Europa does is.

Hi Dave:
Let me give to a bit of a warning. If you use the dimensions given the
manual, your opening may be off centered. An apparent glitch from the factory
on
the location of the recesses on the bottom skin. Best to use the mass balance
arms as a guide if they are already attached to the ailerons. You may have to
widen the recess area of the wing. Take a look at my photos for chapter nine.

I was going to suggest looking at some pics at the owners forum
(http://forum.okhuijsen.org/) but they seem to have disappeared - anyone
seen them? I went all aluminium line and routed the return the same as
Paul McAllister (Graham Singleton makes modified tank fittings to take
the return ninto the top of the tank).
I did change to SS braided hose from just aft of the mudguard through
the tunnel. I have routed along the port wall of the tunnel initially
and then left side of the tunnel top - just inboard of the flap/gear
actuator (couldn't get enough clearance round the wheel on the stbd
side). I have come over the top of the gear mounting frame and through
the firewall (Grahams composite version). The SS braided is secured
with 'p' clips every 18" just secured through the tunnel with
AN525-10R8's and MS21042-03 stiff nuts. The aluminium return line is p
clipped onto small glass pylons I make holding an anchor nut. If the
pics ever show up you could have a look. Altough G-GIDY is not yet
flying the set up is very similar to Paul McAllisters and for anyone in
the UK it is now PFA approved.

Ron,
Ditto on the last response except that I chose to bring the return line into
the fitting on the Reserve outlet side of the tank. My Reserve is on the port
side. My thinking was that this way the Reserve side was continuously being
topped off, even in rough air. If plumbed into the top of the tank at the fuel
fill port, which is on the starboard side, then once you switch over to Reserve
the fuel return would deplete the Reserve side much quicker because the
return fuel would settle in the Main side of the tank.
Am I seeing something wrong?

Or call the stbd side the reserve. Is'nt that the factory way also?

Subject: | 912S Resonance / Vibration |

Folks,
We have just completed the first 2 1/2 hrs of ground engine running
(912S Warpdrive @ 21deg XS mono) apart from a couple of starting problems which
we think are fuel related, the only issue which we are concerned about is
a vibration / resonance at 3200 - 3300 RPM.
Could find nothing loose, re-torqued the blades and had a good poke and push around
with all the bits and pieces, anyone any ideas / experience ? We have spent
considerable effort in reducing throttle cable drag and balancing the carbs.
The rev band the resonance occurs at is very specific, and goes as quickly as it
starts, very consistent and repeatable, however the engine is smooth at all
other speeds.
I must say being a spam can pilot I was very impressed (not to mention releaved)
at how controllable the aircraft was on the ground in some cross winds and up
to high taxi speeds on grass
Yours with blurrrrrred vision
Tony.
PS, I think CKT will be releasing an exhaust mod to prevent the manifold pipe (left
rear) cracking some people have experienced. Also they were unaware of the
tail pipe falling off some owners have experienced, they are developing a better
clamping device.

That scared the bejeebers out of me! I thought some photos had gone missing. The
gallery had a hiccup (technical term) the other night while doing maintenance.
I had to delete the file that told the Gallery what order the albums went
in. Having an exceptional but short memory, I couldn't remember what order of
the albums.
I've checked all the links, long and short named and they're all good.
But if worst came worst, fear not, Jos backs up up the Forum and Gallery once a
week, and I keep an off site copy every two weeks or so, all 1+ gig of it.
I'm glad everything is in order......

Tony,
I have the same set-up as you (XS, 912S, 21.5degrees) and have clocked up
150 hrs.
From new I have had a vibration at 3000 rpm - not too bad but enough to
annoy!
The engine is smooth at all other settings and I have had the prop balanced
three times with no (or very slight) improvement.
One thing which does puzzle me, though - and no-one has been able to explain
(Skydrive included) - is that, while there is no appreciable mag drop at
either 4000 or at 2000 rpm, at 3000 there is a marked miss-fire on left mag
only and,of course, a vibration to match !
Could the problem be purely ignition related and not an imbalance ?
I would be very interested to hear what happens when you try a mag check at
your vibration rpm if you would be so kind.
Regards,
Ron Jones.

Tony,
I had a similar problem with my 914 / Airmaster setup. I had the propeller
balanced which made a big improvement, but didn't completely remove the
vibration. I since balanced the carburetors with a pair of vacuum gauges
and it runs as smooth as a sewing machine.
If that doesn't work I'd suggest you check the blade angle with a
protractor, sometimes they are a bit out and it can cause a resonating
vibration. Unfortunately these angles are set by Airmaster in a jig so if
they are wrong it is a trip back to the factory for the blades.
Paul

If you can't readily identify the leak, wash the area down, good and
refill the system. Have someone work the break while you watch for the
leak. Once identified, make repairs and you should be good to go...
