Thanks for deligating the co-ordination to me William. -No pressure!
I am told that sex is at it's best just prior to death by strangulation. Is it
equally possible that the joy of flying is only experienced by those of us spnniing
into the ground just before departing this life?
Whilst it is most unlikely that I will ever experience the former, there is a strong
probabilty that the latter would be the outcome of trying to fly out of
Coal Aston in the current gales.I fly for fun, and I cant see much fun in the
weather untill Friday.
So forgive me folks if I decline to join you on Wednesday.
Brian Hutchinson and I will be seeking the 'First of the Autumn Wine' instead,
by flying out to on Friday to Le Mans.
If any one fancies joining us please e-mail me, or phone 07957 818787. Sorry William,
but I am sure that others made of sterner stuff than me will join you.
Happy Flying! Bryan Allsop

Yes Duncan!
I have put back my departure till Friday. What do you think? It's all the
same to us retired old gits, but I shall be missing out on a game of golf.

Put Jim and Lynne Puglise in FL down on the glider pilot list. We probably
have a few more hours in airplanes but the reason we went to the Europa is
definitely the long wing and glider performance.

--> Europa-List message posted by: "nigel charles" <nigelcharles@tiscali.co.uk>
Hi Pete
I don't know. The retailing may be done through the new Europa company
so I think it may need discussion between CKT and Andy Draper.
My stainless exhaust cost about 500UK pounds so don't expect this one to
be much different. CKT are a good company and will ask a fair price.
They need to get an order for 10 to make it worth setting up the
tooling. I don't know what the retail mark up will be. The problem is
that even if you got one custom made it is likely to cost more. The jigs
at CKT are very precise and they need to be as some of the tolerances
are not great (hence the reason my manifold cracked in the first place).

CKT have now completed the adjustment needed to their jig to ensure that
all Classic Rotax exhausts will be manufactured to the correct
tolerances. To make it worth their while doing a production run they
need at least 10 customers. At the moment 7 of you have showed interest.
If there are any more of you out there who will be requiring one of
these please let me know and I will pass the info on. Be aware that the
original exhausts were mild steel and did not last very long. They also
weigh about 2-3lb more so if you own a Classic and do not yet have a
stainless exhaust now is the time to get one.

Nigel Charles

John,
I should have made it clear I was talking of a 2200 installed in an MCR 01.
The prop in question is an EVRA fixed pitch model.

It's nice to get always facts.
We shoud/could use this forum also for other items like avionics etc.
This can help for making up your own decision easier.
Now back to the engine comparisons:
There are a lot of other engines, which do their duties in our beloved
Europa. We could build up a comparison and could add to this the best to use prop.
Now to the Jabiru:
I have heard, that the Prop rev should be as maximum not over 2.700 to 2.800
rpm. In this case the Jabiru will/can give only approx. 90 %
Kind Regards,
Bruno Reith / Europa XS Monowheel kit 379

McMaster-Carr has two pins which seem suitable.
The basic, T-Handle pin is $29.30 each
The heavy-duty, T-Handle pin is $57.08 each.
I received one each of these pins from McMaster-Carr today. I will
post pics and a description of the McMaster-Carr pins on the Europa
Forum site this evening.
I also received the smaller 1/4" pins I ordered from McMaster-Carr. I
think they are unsuitable for flight use, but could be used during
alignment assembly and ground assembly. But I'd attach a big red
ribbon to them to ensure that no flight was made with them in place
instead of the proper pins.
Three e-mails to Europa (2004). No replies yet.
Good building and great flying,

Bob,
Thanks for your efforts on all our behalfs.
Seems I recall some postings related to using two pip pins rather than the
one supplied + the "bolt with a handle".
Is there some consensus or factory-blessing on this?

The starboard side aileron quick connect (CS15S and W16S) will have to
be relieved to allow for the extra length of the pip pins versus the
1/2" bar w/ handle. Look at the port side aileron quick connects
(CS15P and W16P) and you can see the area relieved. The same thing
would have to be done on the starboard side.

Good question. Especially as I now have two functional wing spar pip
pins to use if it is OK.

Hi Al:
I was receiving email from Andy just last week at the address of
andy@europa-aircraft.com.
Unfortunately I attempted to contact him about purchasing modification parts
and the address bounced this week.
I wrote to Rowland at the Europa Club requesting that they investigate if
there are new email addresses for the factory or perhaps just delivery issues.
Who knows...?

Sorry to use the Europa list guys, but I do not know who is doing what yet.
It seems that Duncan, Richard, and I will be setting out on Friday, weather permitting.
Meanwhile Paddy advises me that he and others are bound for the rally at Stadlohn-Vreden
in Germany on Friday. He invites us to join them.
It does not seem like a bad idea. I can get William to join us there.
Clearly Richard Iddon and I would need to refuel and flight plan at Lashenden,
which could make a meet point. This could be a better three day trip than Le Man,
Which I am told does not have much going for it. To St-Vreden is a three and
a half hour trip from Bath without the tail wind.
I have no charts for Germany, so I would have to ask someone to photocopy the relevant
sections for me. The airfield plates are on the web site listed on Paddy's
mail.
My mobile is 07957818787 Cheers Bryan

EAA Chapter 244 is holding a fly-in at False River Regional airport
(HZR), this Saturday and Sunday. The airport is located in New Roads,
LA, near Baton Rouge. We have a 5000' x 75' asphalt runway in very good
condition. There will be lots of food and fun. Camping on the site.
If interested, drop me a line. Hope to see some of you there...

Gents,
McMaster-Carr appears to have suitable replacements for the L-Handle
Main Spar Pip Pin. I have posted a picture with description, part
numbers and prices on the Europa Forum, under the Builders Photo
Gallery.
You can search McMaster-Carr web site ( http://www.mcmaster.com ) with
key words "push-button quick-release pin" or with the part number.
I recommend purchasing the pins from McMaster-Carr rather than making a
large special purchase from ACS. The standard L-Handle and standard
T-Handle pins are less expensive through McMaster-Carr. Personally, I
like the Heavy-Duty T-Handle version even though it is more expensive.
I hope this helps.
Good building and great flying,

Joe,
I'd say that should be fine. There are already monowheel and trigear
versions either flying or under construction.
The conventional arrangement has the same wing fittings as the trigear
arrangement - so I see no problem whatsoever. I just dont know of anyone
building this combination at present.

That is correct as I was the creator of some of the artwork in several
of the pages. John Hurst was responsible for the web site here in the
states and did a good job to keep it going. I hope to see a new one
from the new company take shape soon. If the company is truly wanting
the most for it's builders and and to stimulate future orders this
should be one of the first orders of business. Of course as soon as the
miss deeds of the past are cleared up.
