I spoke to John Wheeler at the factory yesterday afternoon - They know the site
is down (web and email from late on monday afternoon) and were arranging for
it to be re-instated, or re-located asap.

Have just tried now and the web site is still down. Not sure exactly where it
was hosted - UK or US, but John Hurst kept most of it current. The original Factory
phone and fax number still work and I anticipate an announcement from EF2004
      soon on future plans.

      Hi Paul,

I guess you could call me a glider pilot at heart. I've flown hang gliders
off and on for 30 years, though I was one who spent time in the wilderness
by hanging a Mac 101 on a stretched wing Easy Riser back in the late '70's
before getting my PP along w/ a Stinson 108.

In the '80's I designed and built 1 43' wing span tailless biplane from
Riser parts and have been flying it solely as a glider, most recently at
Chelan Butte, WA and Lakeview, OR. Just for the heck of it, I'll attempt to
post a couple of pics of it on the miscellaneous Europa photo album site
unless doing so would be seen as polluting the pristine world of
      Europaphiles.

I am a passionate glider passenger. Andy Draper treated me to my first
glider ride at SnF April 2001 - it was the most awesome experience. My
heart still pounds and my knees still get weak when I think about it.

I would love to have the glider wings, however, I'm still trying to
convince Jim - so far it hasn't worked :-\

Wow, that was fun. The link that John found was to the old Europa site. It's like
a web time capsule. Instead of deleting the old site they made the home page
a redirect to the new Europa site. All the back pages are still there. The newest
entry I could find was Nov 1997. Ahhh the good old days.
As far as the current web site being down, I think that is a good sign. The site
being up gave the impression of "business as usual", which is not the case.
When the site comes back it should have up to date, pertinent information.
If someone is in contact with Europa 04, I would be happy to serve their PDF update
and mod files from the EuropaOwnersForum, until they come back online. I'm
pretty sure I have them all. Let me know, and I could have them on the forum
      in an hour or two.

      Some stats on the EuropaForum:
We are closing in on 4000 builders photos, making it the single largest collection
of builders photos / logs of any homebuilt aircraft.
The Forum is also receiving 200 hits per day.
The Matronics auto posting and threading forum is working well on custom modified
beta software, giving features that no other forum has.
I'd like to thank the Europa Club for helping shape the feature list of the Forum.
Without the flurry of emails, some heated, some humorous, back and forth in
the days before the forum went online, I would not have pushed the feature list
to include what we have today.

      Steve,

I just wanted to say congrats on the success of the EuropaForum site -
you've worked damned hard on it and the result reflects that. I use both Web
and email access to our community interchangeably now, and the photos
      gallery is awesome.

I'm heading towards a temporary 'stop build' on G-EZZA in the
not-too-distant future while Liza and I move to and set up our future home -
at which point I'm planning to add my plane to the build logs on there :-)

      Cheers,

The old number works fine and we got through to the parts guy.

      Hi John!!!
You are back on the job, I HOPE! If so, great news.
What is the trailer situation? If your old one is still available, I
will take it although I would probably prefer a new one.
      Thanks and WELCOME!

      All,

I don't know if anyone has mentioned before this but I believe that a photo
      of Cliff's Europa tri-gear made it into Flying's Oshkosh round-up. Page 56,
      top left background. Congratulations Cliff!

Betty Shaw (Cliff's wife) was kind enough to provide me with a list of
Europa builders who flew in, or drove in to Oshkhosh this year.

      <snip a distinguished list>
