I also understand where Tony is coming from, even though it may be a misguided view, and I respect his right to express it. I think the time has come to give this subject a rest for a few weeks to see what Europa 2004 intend to do. We can then develop the many good ideas that have been expressed over the last few days against something real, rather than theory. We cannot afford to fall out with each other over this. Naturally I want to protect the plastic from the 'hangar rash' which nearly always ensues. In the past I saw several such arrangements which covered the screen (and windows I guess) with a compound which protected the 'glass' during building. Think I can find 'em? At present I have used electrical tape to cover it with bubble-wrap plastic but presume this is not ideal when more vigorous activity looms. Your advice sought as to the best method/materiel to use.....................please. Parigoris" Subject: Europa-List: Cockpit Module Bond in "CHEAT" --> Europa-List message posted by: "Ronald J. Parigoris" Looks like Sunday is final CPM Bond in day. We did a big cheat. Where the front of the CPM butts against the Firewall, the left top hit, but there was a pretty good size gap below it and a good gap on the right side. We cut a 1 inch piece of foam and put packaging tape over the edges and used it as a plug. we left ti sticking out a bit, and jammed the CPM in place, now we have a form fitting plug, and filled the front gap. Worked perfect except some gaps. After cure we filled the gap on the sides of the fuse by the tank and a large gap on the lower right and left. Also gave the Firewall a fill on all voids. The neat thing bout this is you can remove excess redux where you can't get to upon final bond. On Sunday add anywhere it needs to get near perfect coverage. Lookin like will only need for final bond, perhaps a dozen pop rivets for strong hold in place, and perhaps a dozen more for thin fiberglass bend and hold instead of using a lot of fill. Will not need much redux as the fit will be mostly in contact. When pop riveting, there is almost no distortion on fuse, and very little load on CPM. Spraylat is the material they put on airplanes in the military boneyard down here. I put 4 coats at 90 degrees to each other on each surface. This material came recommended to me by the guys over at Phoenix Composits. As for bonding in your windscreen I should think that would be the last thing you want to do. It is much easier to get behind your panel for troubleshooting with the window out. I have my side windows in but I am leaving the windscreen out until the engine has been checked out and all the electrics wrung out. The only other advice I would offer is to remove it every 6 months and reapply If left on longer it is really difficult to get off, trust me I know. Don't just put another coat over the top of the old stuff either, that doesn't work either. Replacement fuel cap From: "Tim Butterworth" --> Europa-List message posted by: "Tim Butterworth" Hi, Don't ask how(!?) I have lost my fuel cap from my Europa when filling yesterday. Despite 6 fire service chaps trying to help search for it for over an hour, we couldn't find it anywhere. So .... can anyone help in supplying a replacement 'non-lockable' type fuel cap? a) Andy/Neville, do you have any at the factory? (is there one on G-YURO if you don't have any stock?) b) Does anyone have one used/going spare? c) In the short term, does anyone have a kit someway off completion that I can beg/borrow/steal until a replacement can be sought? d) Can we locate the manufacturer and part number for me to get one from the supplier direct? Any help much appreciated! Tim
