Dear all,
For those that do not know me, I was one of the unfortunates that paid
Europa Management (International) Limited in full for a Europa kit that
never turned up. I lost the lot (GBP20,000+).
I have just managed to get my head around that one - just.
But then I realise that the former owner and Managing Director of EM(I)L is
continuing to take more money from me. How? Because he is a contributing
photographer to a number of GA magazines, including Popular Flying! (the
magazine of the PFA). Not though The Europa Flyer thankfully!
I pay for the magazine, the magazine publisher pays the photographer - you
get the picture.
My conscience will not allow me to throw good money after bad toward this
man so I have informed these publications that they have a decision to make
- either lose me as a reader or cease association with that particular
contributor.
Thought you all might like to know my stance.
Sean

Sean,
Learning what Wilson has done to people like you livers me to the extent
that I really don't know what to say.
Notwithstanding, after reading what you said about writing to the magazine
publisher, I can see no reason why you shouldn't be able to express your
feelings in the 'Letters to the Editor' columns in Popular Flying and
others. I can't see that you would have anything to lose and the more that
man can be ostracised the better in my opinion anyway.
Also, now that you have brought this to our attention, I hope other
subscribers to those magazines make similar threats to withdraw their
subscriptions. Rest assured I can get through life without seeing any
photos taken by Wilson. Not being a subscriber myself, I'm sorry I cannot
support you by putting my money where my mouth is unfortunately.
To you Sean and others in the same boat, I sincerely hope the wheel of
fortune turns around your way and you can get the opportunity to share the
dream we are all working towards.
Regards
Kingsley Hurst

Greetings All,
The Blue Mountain EFIS Lite or Sport models should be looked at
on their merits of performance and price.
For those who just have to have extra letters, a version is being
certified as meeting FAA TSO standards. I have no idea about
incremental price or release date.
As for the debate about who has better advice on wiring:
This is easy! They are both substantially correct, and in my opinion,
they both make mistakes. Bob has been buffing his Aeroelectric Connection
for years, thus has few errors of minutiae or typos. Greg put his thoughts
out with less polish.
Bob likes fuse links; I use about 6 in N224XS but would never again. They
are too difficult to service
Greg suggested using screw terminals, I think these too sensitive to
vibration
On the whole though, there are substantial areas of overlap in which the
naive builder will be
well served by following their advise.
>> Just don't use the cheap automotive or marine grade fastons, use the
industrial grade PIDG with the metal
sleeve going all the way up the plastic collar!<<

Sean,
I feel your pain!!! I lost over $22,000 to that low life. It looks like he is going
to get away with this. Unfortunately he is untouchable to us in the US. If
he is smart, he will not set foot on this continent.

First of all, it really hurts to hear about losses like that. Mine was just a few
hundred pounds, and i payed more then a month before i finally picked up the
kit. It must have been close to the "take money-see you later" point.
For the rest i feel that proscecution and conviction in civilised countries should
be delt with by the institutions we have elected. I suppose the UK is a country
where those systems should be in place. I am willing to join and share the
costs to my capacity if such a proscecution needs a committee and money to
get things going.
But i reject the kind of public lynching that is promoted here. That is absolutely
against my consience, however understandable it is. So, if we feel that this
is a case of criminal activity, lets get the ball rolling in the right direction!

There is no question of criminal activity, at least by US standards. Wilson tried
to sell me a FWF kit as late as June. Unfortunately we wannabe builders in
the US are now powerless.

It might be worth talking to your local prosecutor. Obviously, they could
never get their hands on him, but it would be nice to know that if he shows
his face in the US, he could go to the cross-bar hotel

For what it's worth, I've been watching lots of heads roll in the homebuilt
kit market for a LONG time. When I decided to go with Europa, I made a
small down payment and made the remainder to go to the deliverers. I feel
for the guys that got stuck with the whole bill for nothing, but I think I
would have been skeptical about any kit seriously discounted.

Problems with resonant frequecies are not the only ones I have heard about
with the Dynon. I went to the Rough River Canard fly in a month ago and a
guy there reported an issue where he did a rapid decent through a few
thousand feet and when he leveled off it showed a rate of climb. I can't be
sure but I think he said it was indicating 2000' ROC in level flight.
With all that said, Dynon seem to be a vendor that has excellent product
support and are interested in actively sorting out issues. Given the
installed base they have a good exposure to potential problems and I am sure
that it will be a great product once its all shaken down.

Are you sure it was the Dynon.
A partial blockage of the static line will give this sympton. It may not
show op during normal climb/descent but may well do so in a rapid descent.

I am going to need more Redux.
I contacted Sil-Mid in the UK. Impressive and timely response.
Expensive but reasonable price. The deal breaker was the packing and
shipping from UK to US. A multiple of over 4 times the price of the
Araldite. Total price ended up at over $450 US for a 1.4 kg container.
Does anyone know of a source in the US?

I opted for an Aeorpoxy alternative used in the construction of Velocity
A/C (don't have the number in front of me). Call their tech and discuss
the options. I believe I paid about $39 plus shipping for a quart kit...

Hi All,
I've succeeded in vacuum forming polycarbonate wingtip lighting covers
suitable for those nifty combo landing light, strobe, and LED position
lights made by CreativAir. I will be using them in conjunction with a rudder
mounted rear position/strobe light.
The covers replace the forward 5.5" portion of the XS fiberglas molded
wingtip.
Of course, they would also serve for other types of lights as well.
If anyone would like a set, feel free to contact me off-list.

Europa owners that have the RiteAngle AOA, pleases contact me off list if
you have any problems. We have had problems (various aircraft) with stray RF
from owner built engine monitoring systems affecting the RiteAngle if display
leads went close to source of the RF (behind the engine monitor display) and
during certification on a production aircraft a bad connection on an altitude
encoder gave us fits for quite a while.
