Sam,
Do you have any pictures of how you did the pip pin to lock it in place.

I was wondering what suggestions and recommendations are out there for building
a cradle for the fuselage. Other than a trial and error method I can't think
of a way to copy the curvature of the bottom of the fuselage.
Thanks

Dave:
Pick three positions on your fuselage bottom where you want your boat
supported at. If building monowheel be sure to clear the wheel wheel
opening and leave it hanging out front. Make three layups on the fuselage
bottom. Form one edge of the fiberglass up 90 degrees to make a "fin" to
give it some rigidity when you pull it off of the fuselage. When off of
the fuselage trace the profile on 3 pieces of plywood to make saddles. Cut
with a saber saw. Use your fiberglass layups to bond to the edge of the
plywood to make pads for the fuselage. Weld up a frame out of 1" square
tube to clamp the saddles to. Adjust the saddles as needed to level the
boat. I actually screwed the fuselage to the saddle pads to pull the
fuselage straight. My cradle now has a second user down in Tucson.

Dave,
One relatively simple cradle design is shown and explained at Chuck
Popenoe's website, http://members.bellatlantic.net/~cpops/index.html
I've heard others who've duplicated it sing its praises.

Dave - several people have made fuselage supports and published their methods.
Some of them (including Roger Sheridan's measurements of the factory
version) are collected among the various other goodies on the Europa
Club CD-ROM.

Hi Dave.
I used large cardboard sheet trimmed to fit the inside of my fuselage at the
necessary stations. Take a look at the photos on my build site below.

drill undersize by about 15 thou, then ream out to slight undersize.
Measure the pins first and find a metric or letter reamer the size you
need. Reamer bored about 1/2 thou over it's own size.Pete Churms' pins were
exact to size. The reamer size we used is lost in the dark corners of my
brain ?:-[
The job needs to be done with the tube firmly clamped to a decent machine.
Don't try it by hand, it will be expensive, cheaper to buy a drill stand!
BTW it took about 1 1/2 hours to get the tubes out of the completed
fuselage, much longer to get them back! We used a Dremel cut off wheel to
get the split pins out. No body had to crawl down the hell hole.

Cheers,
A word of warning :
I am taking my time, I admit, and left the fuselage cradled for over a year.
I had made a collapsible cradle and the forms were cut from 1/2inch plywood.
When it came time to lift the fuse out, I found indentations wherever the
fuselage sat - and have had to fill same in prep for painting.
Don't leave the fuse in for long before checking for dents.
