The Supplier is in London. Gearfox Ltd Charter House, 106 Baker Street Marylebone LONDON W1U 6TW +44 (0) 207 7486 1970 Or info@gearfox.co.uk ------ Forwarded Message From: "info @ gearfox.co.uk" <info@gearfox.co.uk> Subject: RE: Evans Cooling NPG+ Thank you for your enquiry with reference to your request for more details about the supply, price, availability and other details for Evans NPG+ cooling fluid. Apologies for the short delay in responding to this but as you can imagine since you received the notification from Rotax, the demand has been substantial for this product. Currently neither I nor the other European distributor have available stock. However we expect to receive shipments in the next 2-4 weeks from when we can make this available to you. We have both ordered considerable stock so there should be plenty for every one who needs it. Let me know how you want to arrange delivery. Both Renox, the other European distributor based in Italy, and ourselves worked hard with Rotax to test the fluid and we are delighted to be able to offer this as a solution to what might appear to be a problem for a considerable number of our clients. Renox and ourselves have been carrying this fluid for some time and we have been selling this mainly to the automotive sector (high performance, racing and valuable older cars) although we have had some customers in industrial environments. Indeed we have had significant demand from users of solar heating systems, which have traditionally used water as the medium of heat transfer. In all these environments, use of Evans NPG+ has resulted in less boil over and increased system efficiency. However we have not had much demand in the UK for the solar heating applications surprise surprise! Evans NPG+ Cooling Fluid is imported from the US and comes in 1 US gallon containers and is boxed in quantities of 4 gallons. For those of you who need the conversion this equates to 3.78 litres. The rrp has been set at 30 per US gallon. However we have made a concession to all Rotax users in an agreement with Rotax and we are pricing this to you at 27.50. We can supply this from either depot and will charge post/courier charges plus 5 packing for supplies less than 1 box (4 US Gallons). The price will be subject to change of currency exchange rates but will be held until January 2005. Payments are acceptable by cheque and we will be seeking to establish a credit card payment scheme over the next couple of weeks. Currently we have 2 depots stocking the Evans cooling fluid at centres in London and Berkshire. Over the next 2-3 weeks whilst we wait for the stock to arrive, we will be looking to extend the number of stockists to try to ensure an even distribution. Best wishes Dan Sargent

    Subject: The cooling deal
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Dave Anderson" <dja767@charter.net> OK, Here is the deal: The temps were about sixties F. I got the fluid from www.evanscooling.com. If the issue of the price of the coolant that will be added and kept in the airplane is a factor, one might not consider flying as a recreation. The cost is a drop in the bucket. The reason they are lowering the max CHT limit is because with water in there, it is possible to boil the coolant before reaching your CHT limit now - a highly undesirable condition. In normal ops, I do not get over about 245 degrees F with the fluid now. In flying, the concern should be non normal ops. We have had a Europa crash due to high coolant temps during taxi out and then taking off, resulting in a boil over, explosion of the overflow coolant bottle (not vented well, resulting in the problem - later fixed by another SB) and fluid coming over the windshield, engine failure and you can figure the rest. To me having the option to take the CHT all the way up to 275F without concern about the coolant is a very valuable feature - it has a boiling point of 375F. The claim is that there is better cooling due to no hot spots va[osizing the water, but that doesn't seem to be what I am seeing right now. If anything, it seems to be running warmer. There is a reason they put out this service bulletin. If the cooling is effective enough for warm weather, I will be very happy to have it in there to have the piece of mind of not dealing with cooling system boiling. The additional cost to fill with this fluid vs. normal fluid is about $15 - hardly a factor in my plans for retirement. The biggest issue for me is having to carry a supply of the fluid on a trip in case of needing to top off the system. A point of interest - the fluid I removed looked as clean as the day I put it in there after 260 hours of engine running time. Dave A227 mini U2

--> Europa-List message posted by: "R.C.Harrison" <ptag.dev@tiscali.co.uk> Hi! Stephan/ Gerry. The requirement for an ELT on a visiting homebuilt wasn't enforced during my visits to Norway and that was after needing written authorisation to fly in their airspace. However I can well understand that it would be very intelligent to use one. So much of their terrain is remote and hostile and even flight planning uses the general description "coastwise" flying down their coast, believe me there is no where to land except the major published airfields all about 200nm apart! Were the "donkey" to stop it would be safer to ditch than try to make a landing. They even refuse flight plans further than 100NM from land leaving their coast without an onboard dinghy. Flight planning and clearance for every flight is compulsory. Shetland was 198nm from Bergen and just complied with their regulation without a dinghy. So I don't really understand why I should be having this problem. My fuselage is one of the batch in which the metal reinforcement insert for the bottom tube of the landing frame was in the wrong place, so my theory is that the guys making the fuselage were having an off day and got the dimensions of the tunnel slightly wrong as well. Fortunateluy there is a solution: a bulge housing for the main brake cylinder, and turning the brake caliper by 90 degrees. John XS Monowheel kit 536 G-JHKP

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Steve Crimm" <steve.crimm@stephenscott.com> Flight, Knowing that there are Europa's flying in the cold north of Norway, when I say cold when I really mean cool 40F. My aircraft that I purchased, was born and lived in Florida till just recently. Now that it lives in Atlanta, Georgia it will be flying in cooler weather. Yesterday as I was beating the air into submission I noticed that my ailerons were hitting a bump when I passed through the neutral position. Once on the ground I found that the outboard portion of the aileron was rubbing against the outboard portion of the trailing edge of the wing. When I got the aircraft home and in the garage where it warmed up, the gap between the aileron and trailing edge had opened up allowing free travel. Today I pushed it out in the cold while still on the trailer and it did the same thing. Obviously the fix is to sand a larger gap between the two. Has anyone ever noticed this or any other kind of contraction due to temperature in your aircraft and are there any other surprises to expect. Thanks Steve Crimm N15JN A058

I also recall a discussion of the possibility of ordering direct from the US supplier of these components, but I believe we (collectively) concluded that until the dust settled w/ the new company, there were legal/contractual issues which would prevent us from doing so. Has anyone successfully acquired new windshield/windows since the demise of EMIL?..if so, how? Is anyone else in need of these parts? Fred A194

The web site and E-mail is not up and (as far as I know) there is no representation in the US yet. Don't know if any is in the works now or not. Last I talked to them they were still saying there were announcements in all the magazines about the new company. Haven't seen a single one here in the US. This is one of the main reasons I went with the Jabriu set up. There are some small things I need but don't have to rely on the factory for anything. They told me they were shipping FF foreward but haven't heard from anyone in the US who has gotten yet or ordered for that matter. I would think setting up a way for your customers to get hold of you easily would be one of the first things the new company would do. Just my 2 cents worth. Al Stills N625AZ

BUT, I have had luck contacting individual subcontractors for various parts. WRT plexi windscreen and windows for the Europa, you can contact George Mesiarik at LP Aero Products ( george@lpaero.com and http://www.lpaero.com/ ) and he can provide you with a price list for Europa Plexi products and options. Good building and great flying, Bob Borger Europa Kit #A221 N914XL, XS Mono, 914, Airmaster C/S http://forum.okhuijsen.org/N914XL (75%) Work on hold while I accumulate $$ to purchase the plexi, prop and other parts that I'll never get from EMIL or E(04). Start by checking that, then work downstream to find what caused the problems. Friend of mine just alleviated his similar calliper problem by softening the tunnel with a hot air gun and bulging it out to clear, but also cut a slot in the thigh support to allow the tunnel side to move out a bit, then did the simple repair to restore the strength of the assembly Graham

Try john@europa-aircraft.com for sales, roger@europa-aircraft.com for spares or andy@europa-aircraft.com for technical queries. I have ordered parts from the new Europa company twice and on both occasions I got them within two days. Far better service than I ever had from the old Europa company! Using a hot air gun is a novel approach I had not considered. I did check the gear mount weldment and it is symmetrically installed. John XS Monowheel kit 536 G-JHKP

Last I heard (from the factory) they were going to ship into Norfolk VA. and was our responsibility from there on. don't get me wrong, I think it's great they're taking care of their "local" guys, but it still leaves a lot to be desired on this side of the pond. --> Europa-List message posted by: EuropaXSA276@aol.com I can tell you folks that E04 is up and running. They are a bit short staffed at this time but are responsive. I have ordered all missing components for my ship < including glass> and one or two mods. All parts were in stock in the UK and will be in a container to the US for December delivery. E mail Andy at: andy@europa-aircraft.com Hope this helps. Brian S

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Robert Berube" <bberube@tampabay.rr.com> Just a bit of info on shipments from the UK to the US. There is a shipment of FWF kits and other parts due to leave the UK next week. Their e-mail is working but perhaps better to call or fax directly. The numbers are the same as well as the e-mail. For orders it is best to talk to Roger and it may not be too late to get your orders on this shipment.
