Subject: re Insurance
Re new insurance requirements for European aircraft. best info I have so far
is this quote from my hangar manager!!
Aircraft insurance is all about to change with the new rules that come into
force in May 2005 making mandatory insurance requirements for aircraft
Europe wide. This means that liability will be split, the hull insurance
will be optional as now but the single limit insurance will be split into
Third party and passenger liability and these elements will be mandatory.
The 3rd party minimum requirements are based on the MAUW of the aircraft.
for example an aircraft of 1000kgs but less than 2,700kgs will have to have
insurance of a minimum of 3,000.000 SDRs or Special drawing rights which
equates to about 1.23SDRs equals UKP 1 (3,000.000SDRs equals about UKP
2.500.000.)
The passenger minimum limits requirements will be 250,000 SDRs per passenger
seat (the CAA may go with 100.000 SDRs per seat for private use but this
will only be known later in January) .
A Europa will require the new minimum 3rd party insurance for its weight
class and passenger insurance of one times either 250.000 SDRs or 100.000 if
the CAA allows the lower rate. Plus of course any hull insurance.
The only thing I found out for sure is that it will cost more to insure our
Europa's very soon.

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Bryan Allsop" <bryan@blackballclub.com>
Hi Richard,
Regarding the requirement for a manifold pressure gauge, omitted from my article
in the Flyer.
I think you have anticipated the next part of the story. Indeed, Francis did
insist RETROSPECTIVELY that a manifold vacuum gauge must be installed.
Having asked for his guidance from square one, it did not amuse me. Now that
I find that you have had the same experience before me, I find even less
amusing.
The purpose of writing the article was to let others see what is involved,
so it is good to hear about you have been there too.
Regarding the CS/VP options. I installed both because it came that way, and
it was something else to play with. As with the Airmaster CS, you can select
the three options, and set any revs you wish to. I find that fully course VP
setting makes the engine run really smoothly, and the engine does not seem to struggle.
Indeed, I did a couple of go-around and she picked up quite well..
I hope to be more illuminating for the next Mag.
Cheers Bryan.
P.S. Regrettably I have not made it to Florida, yet. Very soon though. My absence
from the correspondence is due to a computer changeover which is causing me
problems with some lists. If this gets through I will have fixed it.

Do to incessant medical problems; I am forced to place my Europa XS
monowheel kit up for sale.
It is at Flightcrafters - (813) 655-6411 - and Bob Berube is the contact
person.
In a nutshell, the top is bonded on and it's ready for the glass to be set
in place. No work has been done on the instrument panel. There is no FWF
kit.
To see the work I did before Bob took over for me, please go to

Thank you,
Steve "El Roto" G.

Anybody have the specs on the three blade Warp Drive, used on the
tri-gear, with a 912S that they're willing to share? Standard or HP?
Size? P/N?

Subject: | Stabilizing the airframe when on the monowheel trailer |
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Steve Crimm" <steve.crimm@stephenscott.com>
I noticed on one of Cliff Shaws Wile E. Coyotes pictures, with his aircraft
sitting on his trailer, that it looked like he was stabilizing the airframe
by using the W26 rear socket assembly with an attachment to the trailer
frame. Has anyone done this with their monowheel trailer in an effort to
provide additional stability or would this cause the socket assembly to be
broken loose? Or does the tie rod/tie bar provide enough support to prevent
any damage?

NO NO NO !
The drag sockets were designed / stressed to take lift / drag loads only,
the shock loads that could be transmitted from a bracket on a trailer, whilst on
tow, would be far too high.
Figure on seeing ''blips'' as high as 20G over poor roads, even with the
soft /light duty suspension fitted to the Europa trailer.
As a general rule, never use airframe fittings, including the tailplane
torque tube, to support /retain the plane on a trailer.
The main gear swinging arm was designed to support /capture the plane during
transit.
Cheers,
Nev.
