Or worse, one end of the see-saw being allowed to bang violently onto the
ground (in this comparison the upper stop).

I am about to mount the pitch torque tube to the cockpit module. I have the CS09
brackets clamped in position now. My question is about the amount of movement
I should have. With it in the position I have it now, the pitch push rods
move about 2.25 inches, 55 mm, forward and back. Is this enough? I have looked,
but can't find mention of this in the manual.
Thanks,

With the Gallery getting larger and larger it has become hard to keep track of
what's new on the site. I've added a RSS feed to the gallery pages. At the bottom
of the Photo gallery page is a little orange RSS feed button when you click
it you will be treated to a page full of mind numbing html nonsense. This believe
it or not is good. Copy the URL:
http://www.europaowners.org/modules/gallery/rss.php and paste it into a RSS reader program. Windows users sorry I have no idea but if you Goggle "RSS Reader" I'm sure you can find free software. Mac users I'm using a program called NewsFire. These programs will monitor the gallery for you and if anything is new, show you a thumbnail of the picture. If you click the thumbnail it well take you to the gallery. The first time you run your new reader it will try to show you all 4000+ photos. Just click "mark all read" from then on it will show you only new photos.
If you have any questions please post them on the EuropaOwners site to keep this
traffic off the list.

Thanks a BUNCH !!!!
I hope this makes every one lighten up. Remember, there is always another
way to do something. Our opinions are just "our opinions" until some one
knows of them. I like to speak my mind, but as of late, it is with a bit
more cushion.

Cliff,
Your email fills me with embarrassment. I was asked to do the following last
Monday and didnt get it done:
"to post a message on the forum sites to the effect that this issue of
Europa Flyer is being sent to all registered Europa builders/users?You can
say that anyone who would like to receive an email version (low resolution)
should drop a request to editor@europaclub.org.uk and I'll gladly respond.
All in the general idea of extending our coverage/membership etc."
So... my apologies for being late, and I hope that all who received an
unexpected copy of EF43 is really enjoying it!
In my defence, it has been a very full week, and all spare time (and cash!)
is being taken up by wedding plans... Hoping to get some time in on -ZA
tomorrow night at long last [fingers crossed!].
Kind regards,
Jeremy

This past week I received in the mail (post) a large envelop from the Europa
Club. In it was the December copy of THE EUROPA FLYER . I was very
surprised.
I have now read every article, story, and advertisement. I am very
impressed. With out a doughty in my mind this is the best "news letter" I
have ever had. Thanks to the "club" for sending us all a copy. I have
singed up with Roland memsec@europaclub.org.uk so I will not miss out on
another copy of this outstanding news letter.
Thanks again for sharing your publication with all of us.

David
I do not remember a dimension given for the movement of the push tub (CS05).
The real important thing to look out for an interference with the rivets in
CS05 as it rotates and the pitch push tube moves. Some people have had to
"adjust" the rivets to avoid an interference.
Good luck building. I sure miss those days.

To fit the bellcrank on the port side, the manual calls for
counterboring the spar to a depth of 16mm (0.6"). This seems rather
excessive to me, considering that the bolt head could be comfortably
buried with a 5mm counterbore. Wouldn't this cause the spar to become
weaker, which is probably the most critical structure of the airplane?

Andrew,
On the monowheel classic wings we didn't counterbore at all. Must be
different set up with the new style wing.

I agree with you. In fact, I thing that is just what I did. The bolt may
have to be a size longer.

Andrew,
The counter boring is done in the timber in the middle of the spar.
When a beam is under load, the centreline takes no load. In the case of
the spar under normal +ive G loading, the top of the spar is in
compression and the bottom is in tension. The middle is neutral. The
timber is only a spacer to hold the top and bottom spar rovings apart.
Suggest you just use the bolt called out in the manual and countersink
the hole until the other end of the bolt is just long enough to hold the
parts it has to hold. If it is too long, it will conflict with the
other bolt in the aluminium bracket when the wings are rigged.
