Yes, I found that one of my flap drive pins was badly shaped, oversize round the
circumference of the hemispherical end - that wing was a brute to get on and
off. I bought a new pin and bearing to help localise the problem. In the end,
minor grinding with a stone wheel in the dremel round the 'ridge line' fixed it.

Another cause of this problem (not mentioned in the other responses) is
that, if the bearing is not fully home in its retainer, it will rotate too
far out of alignment and make it 'impossible' for the flap drive pin to
engage.

An instrument shop tells me that RC Allen electric gyros are very
rugged, so say a lowball 1,000 hours MTBF is good. That means then an
electronic gyro box by a little Mom & Pop company is assumed to be
10,000 hrs MTBF? They may be very good items to buy based on limited
user feedback, but how could they establish such a MTBF, or assumed by
us if Mom or Pop can't?
I have a couple Monroy air traffic detectors now, which work very
well, but it has to be a one-man company. He's the only guy who ever
answers the phone, and he (the design guy) once told me he outsources
the PC boards, so I guess he assembles them into cases, and answers
the phone, and works his web site. I'll ask their "QC Dept" about
MTBF next phone call... :-)

Just a side note............My RC Allen electric gyro has been the LEAST
reliable part in my entire airplane. I have had it back to their shop for
repair and overhaul three times, and finally demanded that they replace it
entirely. The new one has been in service for about 6 months now, and seems
to work OK, but the original one was terrible.

Hi all.
I had exactly the same problem when rigging my stbd wing. Port one went home
without a hitch. (Still in the build process though - further rigging
problems at "hold"). On the forum some time ago a member mentioned he had
made a pointed extension out of Redux (Araldite 420)/flox to the end of the
flap drive pin - which ended his problem. Going to try this when time comes.

Just to let you know that Europa 2004 is alive and well.
I ordered a FWF kit last year. My kit and others were
shipped over the holidays and I now have mine sitting in
my shop. The team at Europa did a fine job of getting the
order together. Andy said there is another container shipping
in March, so if you need anything this might be a good time to
order.

Hi Alan,
Was down RD Aviation today dropping my aircraft in and I took my headsets
with me to try them with the Intercom. Everything was fine and a friend of
mine who was with me tried them and now wants a pair for his new Europa. Any
chance?
How was the States whilst you were there? I understand that Wilson changed
all the locks on John's Hangar!!!
kind regards

Hi All;
After much gut wrenching I've decided to sell my beautiful bird. It's an XS Monowheel
with more bells/whistles than most. The selling price is about 1/3 less
than what I've got into it (not counting my time. I'll provide packing and
shipping to any country too. Plane is currently in Arizona. Email me off forum
if any interest. Thank you,

I wish to add to the endorsement of Europa 2004. Shortly after they took the reins,
I called to let them know that I would be needing a FWF kit when they were
able. On November #, 2004 I recieved an email from Roger Bull that informed
me that they were gathering items to put in a container for shipment to the USA.
I ordered a 914 FWF kit at that time with delivery to be soon after the holidays.
On Jan 20 I got word from the shipping agent that the order was in and
ready for shipment. It was all complete and in very good condition Andy has been
very helpful when I have had construction questions and undoubtedly has saved
me from some redo's and the ensueing bad language.
Good for all of them! May they prosper and do well! Thanks guys.
Vaughn

Sorry to hear you have to sell your "bird". I've seen it Falcon Field and a beautiful

I also ordered a FWF kit in the container coming in March. Can you tell
me how the shipping logistics work? Last I heard you have to pay duties
and tariffs and have to make your own arrangements to transport it from
the port of arrival. Is that true?

Andrew,
You are partly right. I did not have to pay any duties of tariffs.
The container was shipped to Airship Management in Elizabeth
City, NC and I was responsible for picking it up of having it
shipped.
Another builder picked mine up for me and delivered it around
midnight in a major snowstorm. I was supposed to be with him
but I was suffering in sunny and warm San Diego. The rest of his
trip was a nightmare. He broke down on the NJ Turnpike about
2 in the morning and could get no service from U-Haul. He finally
got it started and made it to a motel. The next day he was towed
to a U-Haul place and got another truck. This one also gave him
problems and completely died when he returned it to U-Haul. By
rights he should have no further problems during his build.
Guess where he will never rent another truck.
By the way...his initials are Ron Parigoris and his friend Wayne.
Hope they are still friends.
Hope I didn't scare you away from picking up your kit yourself.

My FWF kit came in a 46 inch x 38 inch x 26 inch cardboard box that weighted
65 lbs. Since it was too large to fit in the backseat of my car, I towed a
small motorcycle trailer over to Airship Management to pick it up. By
lowering the trailer tire pressure to 15#, the box got a good smooth ride.
Weather was sunny & 48 degrees, a nice day for a drive.

Hi All,
Is there anyone out there who either:
- is flying with an IVOPROP?
- has purchased one? or
- has considered selecting it and decided against doing so?..
and would be willing to share their thoughts?
