Good day All,
Wanted to make sure my placement is right before I cut the skin dig and out
the blue foam to set the motor for the aileron trim. Just for level flight
when no passengers. The Forum archive has a lot of discussion but couldn't find
placement info. And Bob Jacobson's website isn't up any longer.
Starboard aileron, MAC servo unit, between weights but closer inboard, 2" X
8" tab extending up, 18 gauge wire, with power cutoff switch on the panel.
Kind feedback gratefully accepted.

Mike,
Go to www.europaowners.org/gallery type "Aileron Trim" in the search box I think you get three builders install photos, all three are different. Also on Tony's site http://www.kaon.co.nz/europa/ he has a discussion of why he went with extended hinge type something to do with balance and flutter...

Hello all,
It's me, the electronically challenged, again. I received the
capicator, today. It's the snap in type, with two pins sticking out of
one end. One pin is silver, the other has a black dot on it. There is
also a grey stripe down the side, oriented to the black spotted pin.
Can someone tell me which pin is the positive? Thanks again...

Subject: | Monowheel brakes |
--> Europa-List message posted by: "mau11" <mau11@free.fr>
Hi all,
We have a monowheel brake problem explained below.
The main problem is the engineering and design of the caliper.
The pressure application force is not on the center of the disc friction
wide part and in fact the force give an effort diagonnaly to the piston.
When the piston is locked in the cylinder he make a mark into the
cylinder wall and after he stay in this position.
Conclusion:
In flight for landing there is no brake, and impossibility to move the
aircraft manually on the ground.
I have 250 hours with my Europa and during these utilisation I used the
brake with moderation, never excess. For conclusive proof, my brake
shoes are pratically news.
I think this result is not normal, it is a caliper default.
The main problem is: If I replace the caliper by a brand new, if the
design is the same, the same problem appears on the next 250 hours!!!
Alain Chabert have the same trouble.
We are two Monowheels on three with this problem.
Is there a builder know the same problem, and what is the possible
technical solution??
Thanks

Hello Handy,
We have a problem with brake caliper. (Alain Chabert and me)
We remove the caliper and give to you a picture with explanations.
The piston is locked in wrong position. See on the drawing joint.
Do you have a solution to resolve this problem?
We have always the propeller problem.
Thank you.

Hello Kim
Thx. for the pics. very nice cradle.
Can you get a completed plane on it by lifting the tail, rolling it backwards
and when you drop tail, main is off the ground a bit?
thx.
Sincerely
Ron Parigoris
Hi Ron
It may be possible to get it mostly in that way and then slide it back to the correct
position, obviously I've not tried it. The dolly will allow full undercarriage
operation with the wings on or off.

Easy fix !
Remove caliper, push the piston back with a ''G'' cramp [ ''C'' cramp in US]
bleed funnel [ or soak up any spillage with a cloth].
Enlarge the two holes in the floating pad plate by a few thou', and gently
radius the edge of the holes on each side, don't go mad, just take the sharp
edge off.
If the pads have worn at an angle, either face them flat on a linisher [
wear a mask !}, or fit new linings.
Lubricate the pins with a smear of ''copperslip, or similar copper based
grease, and reassemble.Pump the master cylinder / top up fluid until pads are in
contact with disc.
Job done !
Cheers,
Nev.

It's common on PC-mounted caps to mark only the negative in some way,
so black with a stripe sounds good for that. See if mfr has a web
site with its data sheet. Failing that -- got muiltimeter? Take a
little 9V battery and hook it up that way and see if it rises to at
least 8-something volts in a few seconds. If reversed, volts may not
rise beyond a few, if at all, but not enough available energy to blow
it up. Don't try it reversed as a double-check, if first test above
is OK. May not damage the cap for a just a few seconds, or may....

Guys,
I have a Westach fuel gauge in combination with a Princeton capacitive fuel

When switching power on, the fuel gauge gives about 2 seconds of correct
indication and the needle falls back to zero.
Already tried another fuel gauge.
Any Ideas ?

Well, me too... How does one connect to it? Is there some sort of
holder that this "snap-type" snaps into? Is there some sort of device
that "snaps" to the prongs? Thanks from me too.

We had the Avalec capacitance gauge - by their own figures, it could give
errors of 10% plus from one type of avgas to another and 50% plus if you use
Mogas.
Europa do a float type so we fitted that - works a treat (though fitting it
is a fun job)

The snap type (with pins) are designed for PCB mounting - you'll need to
solder a couple of wires to it if you want to use it. Alternative is to
return it if you can and get one with screw terminals (often called computer
capacitors).
Buy a high temperature cap (105 deg C) - they generally have a much longer
quoted operating life.

Went back to Mouser.com and matched the KMH part number. They had a

Did you do the calibration on the sensor? After calibrating the gauge
should go to empty then to full and then to the correct level when turned
on. They must be calibrated before they will read correct.
