Mark Burton did design it to very easy to use, well within the competence of
a Europa builder. I think you may qualify Duncan!

The problem from the point of view of the Committee, is separating the Club
from any liability. Rotating props. are dangerous things.

I have modified the instrument module to take the BMA EFIS 1 and had sub
      panels laser cut (see
      http://www.europaowners.org/modules.php?set_albumName=panel-modification&id=panel_7&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php)

I have an idea it might be possible to get similar laser cut overlays
with labels (switches etc). Does anyone know of companies doing such things?

there an e-mail friendly way to display this or link to an internet

stupid they are, do not belong on this list. If you guys are looking for

spoil the valuable content here. It is against the rules, it's against
good habits. The link to the cross wind landing was nice to have, but the
moment i saw it, i was allready preparing for all those wanting to show
how clever they are. It turns this list to one of those that noboby cares
to read anymore. If that is your purpose, you are close to succeeding.
Some more of this stuff, and i am off. Dull and all.

      Roland and Bryan,
The Carb Balance kit is far more dangerous to use, because one needs to make
adjustments to the carbs with the prop rotating at various speeds. Whereas
the prop balancer does not require weights to be added when the prop is
      rotating.
By all means write a disclaimer if necessary, but there is nothing dangerous
      about using the prop balancer.
      Best wishes,
      William

With respect Jos... Your comments are far from conducive for a useful forum
too. I have seen comments such as yours put everyone off but through the
sheer sanctimonious attitude of one or two individuals.

Unfortunately the e-mail syntax gave an impression of a personal attack to
me. Hopefully you did not intend that.

      The comments were light hearted...so!

At least one of the individuals you chose to chastise is a very competent
professional pilot with much experience of handling fast lively aircraft in
extreme conditions and attitudes. He still flies in such conditions.

There was a lesson in the clip! Why did the crew persist in such an
approach, only going around at a past critical situation.

You have your right to an opinion but if this is a democratic forum then so
do I. You now know that I think your comment was unnecessary.

Ready to be blamed and flamed as I could be right out of line.

We just got our floors/rudder pedals mounted/bonded over the weekend.

There is about .055" side to side freeplay between the tufnal bushings and the
2 welded on washers on the rudder torque tubes.

Any ideas on how to eliminate some of this motion?

I was thinking of bending up a .025" aluminium shim to mimic the top half of the
bushing, and held in place with the 2 screws that holds the
bushing in place. This would only be shimming 1/2 the area of the washer.

      Thx.

I think that amount of end play is OK. You don't want them so tight as to
bind up with a grain of sand from your shoes do you? Really, there is no
problem with end play here. I found that after working on every thing around
the firewall, that here was a vertical misalignment in the tufnal blokes in
my plane. Time seems to change things sometimes. You may want that end play
      later.

At about 13:30, July 11, 2005 (still today, here) N55XS was inspected by
the FAA and found airworthy. First flight is anticipated, soon. Pardon
me if my "red neck" shows, here, but Yeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Congratulations !!! Way to go. Now be safe and just do a couple thing at a
time. That way you have more reasons to go flying again.

      Have fun !!!

      Ron,

I don't think the amount of end play you have in the rudder pedals is
any problem per se. I can't speak for the later models, but on the
Classic at least, lateral displacement of the rudder pedals is important
because if they are not set up correctly, the tinnermann washers that
retain the rudder cables on the drive arms, can conflict with the engine
mount. There is only a minimal amount of clearance in this area.

You may not have been around when Ivan Shaw and Kim Prout had the rudder
jam in the fully deflected position on take-off on their way to Oshkosh
but this was the cause of their excitement on that occasion. On the
positive side, it proved that the 912 powered Mono was still able to
climb with full rudder deflected albeit at a somewhat reduced rate I
      imagine.

      Regards
      Kingsley
