Whereas the prop balancer does not require weights to be added when the prop is rotating. By all means write a disclaimer if necessary, but there is nothing dangerous about using the prop balancer. Your comments are far from conducive for a useful forum too. I have seen comments such as yours put everyone off but through the sheer sanctimonious attitude of one or two individuals. Unfortunately the e-mail syntax gave an impression of a personal attack to me. Hopefully you did not intend that. The comments were light hearted...so! At least one of the individuals you chose to chastise is a very competent professional pilot with much experience of handling fast lively aircraft in extreme conditions and attitudes. He still flies in such conditions. There was a lesson in the clip! Why did the crew persist in such an approach, only going around at a past critical situation. You have your right to an opinion but if this is a democratic forum then so do I. You now know that I think your comment was unnecessary. Ready to be blamed and flamed as I could be right out of line. There is about .055" side to side freeplay between the tufnal bushings and the 2 welded on washers on the rudder torque tubes. Any ideas on how to eliminate some of this motion? I was thinking of bending up a .025" aluminium shim to mimic the top half of the bushing, and held in place with the 2 screws that holds the bushing in place. This would only be shimming 1/2 the area of the washer. Thx. You don't want them so tight as to bind up with a grain of sand from your shoes do you? Really, there is no problem with end play here. I found that after working on every thing around the firewall, that here was a vertical misalignment in the tufnal blokes in my plane. Time seems to change things sometimes. You may want that end play later. Cliff Shaw 1041 Euclid ave. Edmonds, WA 98020 425 776 5555 http://www.europaowners.org/WileE ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ronald J. Way to go. Now be safe and just do a couple thing at a time. That way you have more reasons to go flying again. Have fun !!! Cliff Shaw 1041 Euclid ave. I can't speak for the later models, but on the Classic at least, lateral displacement of the rudder pedals is important because if they are not set up correctly, the tinnermann washers that retain the rudder cables on the drive arms, can conflict with the engine mount. There is only a minimal amount of clearance in this area. You may not have been around when Ivan Shaw and Kim Prout had the rudder jam in the fully deflected position on take-off on their way to Oshkosh but this was the cause of their excitement on that occasion. On the positive side, it proved that the 912 powered Mono was still able to climb with full rudder deflected albeit at a somewhat reduced rate I imagine. Regards Kingsley
