Thanks to you all for the kind words. This is truly a milestone for me...
Peter, it would be an honor to be a part of the Europa Flyer. You may
certainly use whatever you want from my build site. Let me know if you
want/need anything further, pics, specs, etc...
Thanks again,
Jeff - N55XS - now flying...

Tony,
You can contact Lynn Elsner at 480-390-9934. His plane is flying with a turbo
charged EJ22 direct drive. I was to have met him yesterday at his home in Nebraska.
We are planning on flying both his Europa and mine to Oshkosh. Unfortunately,
due to weather delays I am still stuck in Las Vegas, NV. Looking at the
radar plot for the whole US it seems that only Las Vegas has an weather. It's
been raining all night through the afternoon. This is the desert we aren't
suppose to get rain. Anyway if all goes well I will depart tomorrow for Phoenix
to pick up Steve Hagar then off to Lynn's place and finally to Oshkosh.
Keep your fingers crossed.
Tony I will let Lynn know you are interested in obtaining more info on the EJ22
from him. He has e-mail I just don'w have his address at the moment.
Regards,
Erich Trombley

Gidday,
I am keen to learn more about the installation of a EJ22 ??, the big block
Subaru engine in a Europa. I have heard someone has done it and I'd like to
find out more if anyone knows the owners whereabouts, both physically and
electronically. Thanks in anticipation.

Subject: | Radio reception problems |
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Bryan Allsop" <bryan@blackballclub.com>
I have been interested in the recent correspondence regarding radio frequencies,
and related performance characteristics. In particular, the extreme ranges.
East Midlands Airport has a frequency of 134.175. A few weeks ago some of us flew
to an airfield close by which involved us in contacting them. In subsequent
conversation we had all noticed how their transmissions had been unclear. After
making test calls between our aircraft we came to the conclusion that the East
Mids transmitter must be out of sorts.
Last Thursday I went to Le Touquet via the Stanstead low level corridor. This meant
that I had to contact Essex Radar on 120.625. They were receiving me strength
five, but for much of the transit I could not hear them at all.
Similarly, when I go to France using the Lille Info. frequency ( 120.275) to complete
the channel crossing, I can never seem to be able to make contact with
them. I have always put it down to my English accent and their lunch breaks.
In both cases I have been able to hear other aircraft speaking to them strength
five, so my radio was working perfectly.
I can now see that I have a common problem at the lower frequencies, viz, poor
ground station reception. Could it be that other Europas have a simarly poor reception
quality at the higher frequency range. My aerial was built to the manual,
and has always served my well in most respects.
Are these common experiences? If so, what can, and should we do about it?
Regards to all.

After sending the mail on frequency related reception problems, I looked back through
my recent flight plans. I discovered that the Le Touquet tower frequency
is 118.45. It works perfectly.
Oh well! Back to bed. I am sure someone else will work it out.
Cheers Bryan

Jeff - congratulations! Now you know what I'm gonna ask next .. What
airfield did the big event take place at, what was the empty weight,
and does John have a surname? Also, I have 835 build hours recorded -
is that it all? Finally, is it a Classic or XS? (Foam wings =
Classic, pre-moulded wings = XS)
regards
Rowland

--> Europa-List message posted by: KandShill@aol.com
N214KS is a XS trigear with an intercooled Rotax 914, Rospeller C/S prop, weighing
907 lbs. It started out at Flightcrafters under Russell Lepres care. Four
years later it was first flown by me (Ken Hill) on July 20, 2005.
The initial flight was relatively uneventful. The small aileron trim tab was more
than adequate for all speeds above 80 Kts.and it did not appear to need any
rudder trim device (it flies straight). I did have a minor radio noise problem
and the prop controller seems to like the fine pitch stop a little too much.
I noted a worst case CHT of 235F, oil temp of 245F, and Evens coolant temp. of
235F.
My initial impression of the Dynon D10 was amazing. It was within 1 Kt. of the
Winter A/S indicator and was dead on as an attitude indicator and all other functions
checked.
Many people have really come to my aid in building the A/C. On this forum it is
appropriate to mention a few:
FlightcraftersThank you Russell! I spent 2 weeks under Russells guidance in 2001
and many hours on the phone with him over the last 4 years. Russell is a wealth
of knowledge, pegs out the integrity meter and loves helping people with their
projects. His partner Bob Berube (the most experienced Europa builder I know)
did a great job on the cockpit module and assisted me many times. Lastly,
Jim Blackmer wired the dashboard which looks great from both front and back..
Terry Seaver and Dave DefordI look to them as pioneers who have passed their experiences
and successes to me. They are great engineers who have given unselfishly
to many builders.
The forum Thanks to those who have shared their advice and questions. The accumulation
of knowledge will make our flying safer and more rewarding.
Happy flying,
Ken

N81EU has now landed one hour from Oshkosh in Eau Claire. We're planning on landing
Mondy morning and were wondering whether all Europas park together and whether
that offer on sharing a house 1 Mile from the Flighline is still standing.
We'd tell you Alaska stories. Can't sing or dance though...
Looking forward to seeing you all !
