I made copies of plastic seats used for public use in halls etc. I cut the
top of the back down as it increased space needed unnecessarily and laid 4
plies of BID. I cut the side edge toward the front to narrow it slight
      (overlapping the edge)

To mount the front edge I made side pieces (rombus shaped with rows of holes
for adjusting pins in the seat fronts where one needs to be adjustable) and
the back is suspended by a seat belt strap up and over the headrest. This
arrangement allows adjustment for short and long legs and the height of the
front allows long people to rest their knees high to absorb length while
      reclining the back.

I intend to line with sheepskin.

I could send my very rough sketches scanned by Kingsley Hurst directly to
      those interested.

Richard, I got a 121.5 locator to hang round the neck, water activated or
hand switched from a Sailing store in Pwllheli for around 50. I don't think
they have them any longer so no point in going there but it might be worth
looking in any ship's chandlers in your area, as mariners are probably a lot
more likely to end up in the sea than we are! Regards. David

      Hi All,

I am installing the 914 in my XS. Is there some trick to attaching the
coolant and oil hoses to the radiators?
Not much room to work in there.

I sure ain't gonna look that up in such an abstruse text,
but I seem to recall Hoerner's analyis would support 35% of
      fuselage drag, not total.

What is interesting is that of all the aerodynamic mods Roy
Lopresti did for Grumman to make my AA-5 an AA-5A Cheetah,
the allegation is that it came down to reduced cooling drag
and better cowling shape. I tried all them other airframe
items to make mine a pseudo-Cheetah, and got nothing
discernible. I long ago ripped them all off, as she was
illegal as hell. The whole package was worth only 7 more
MPH per the Cheetah POH (a document never understated!).

      David,

Thanks for the info. I have done some more research and come to the
conclusion that a 406Mhz PLB is a good idea as this can be picked up by
satellites. McMurdo do a compact model called the Fastfind which
combines 406Mhz with a 121.5 transmitter to aid with search & rescue.
Again aimed at sailors but can also be used by aviators. The RRP of
these is somewhere over 400 but Mailspeed Marine (mail order
chandelers) are selling them at 299 at present. Seems a bit expensive
but I guess it wouldn't seem so bad if one was floating round in the
middle of the English channel waiting for someone to find you. I think I
shall bite the bullet and buy one of these.

      around lunchtime.

Looks like I'm going to be fabricating my own throttle lever. Does anyone have
the measurements for the Europa throttle lever (TH02)?
      How long is it?
measurement from bottom of lever to centerline of pivot hole?
measurement between centerline of holes for pivot, throttle cable connection, and
      handle?
I think I can figure the rest out for myself.

      Thanks,
