(Power not reaching the motor) Whilst in flight the prop became stuck at fully coarse. Like you I returned the box to France with one of the relays malfunctioning, but when it was returned to me neither of the relays worked. Eventually I gave up and installed one of Mark Burton's constant speed controllers. In about 600 hours, I have never suffered another failure and the constant speed function is a great improvement on the manual control. If you wish to investigate this any further, I suggest you call Mark on: 01948 860451. I will have a look around our local car accessories store next time I am in town. Since my original query about the orange flashing light appearing some seconds after switching on the battery master, it has ceased to do so after I manually moved the wastegate to and fro on its spring, which would seem to suggest that a bit of lubrication is all that is needed. Maybe the stuff we call Redex, if still available, is o.k. It used to be recommended for sticking valves etc. Spray it in through the carb intake while the engine was running was one idea. Used to make lots of white exhaust smoke.! Thanks, Patrick ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 04:23:18 AM PST US From: BEBERRY@aol.com Subject: Re: Europa-List: Arplast Prop.PV50 --> Europa-List message posted by: BEBERRY@aol.com William, Many thanks for the advice. I have deliberately not, at the present time , installed a constantd speed unit, for two reasons 1, I did not see the need, but your comments may make me change my mind and .. 2. The cost! Has anybody installed the control potentiometer on a 912S? Knowing space is tight below the vacuum pump, on top, the plastic air shroud needs to be cut out to gain access to the threats on the engine block. Any feedback whether this works? Any feedback on influence of air distribution post installation? Any other equipment relocation required, i.e. coolant reservoir/hoses? Link to photos of a successful installation? Thanks for some comments. Open the manual pdf file, under edit choose search, type in the part # and click search. You can download the manual upon request from EuropaOwners or the chapter files from http://www.europa-aircraft.co.uk/ under Technical /Builders manuals. If you use the separate PDF files from E4 put them all in the same folder. When you search check the box that says "All PDF Documents in" the choose the folder all the separate PDF files are in. Then click search. Two points, I think you need the latest version of Adobe reader to do this and the search will not find text contained in drawings. Hope that helps, Steved. ---------------- Visit EuropaOwnersForum http://www.europaowners.org/ ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 09:42:02 AM PST US From: Paul Boulet Subject: Europa-List: wanted- fixed pitch prop for 914 --> Europa-List message posted by: Paul Boulet Hi All; has anyone upgraded to constant speed for their 914 install and have a fixed pitch they'd part with? Let me know, thanks Paul Boulet, N914PB "converting to a tri gear and need to fly off 30 more hours of test flying" ________________________________ Message 11 ____________________________________ Time: 09:47:22 AM PST US From: BEBERRY@aol.com Subject: Re: Europa-List: Arplast Prop.PV50 --> Europa-List message posted by: BEBERRY@aol.com Michael - I have just fitted a PV50 to a 914 and I think there is very little difference. The control unit fits onto the two bolt holes on top of the engine block and I found it necessary to raise the coolant filler and extend one of the hoses. I then made a protective aluminium shield to bolt over the top of the controller so that the coolant filler sits on this. It has a rubber pad on the lower side, presumably for this very purpose. When I next go to my aircraft I will take a photo to send to you. Good luck Patrick ________________________________ Message 12 ____________________________________ Time: 01:15:56 PM PST US Subject: Europa-List: Graphics for Europa Paint Job (UK) From: Gerry Holland --> Europa-List message posted by: Gerry Holland I have had my final bit of painting completed today plus the graphics added.
