I need to fly with someone with an Arplast and a CS prop and make a comparison. As soon as I have got all work finished (hope to complete Arplast installation tomorrow) I can then rig the aircraft and do some ground runs before the mod approval comes through. Best wishes. I would like to compare the cross section profile of a PV 50 with the Woodcomp SR 2000 propeller that I am using at present. If anyone knows of anybody not on the forum who has unfortunately broken his PV 50, please let me know. Do not archive I think you will be lucky to find a broken Arplast blade as they are tough as old boots. There is a Banbi in the hangar at Perth (the Scottish one!) that went off the runway a year or two ago and removed the nose leg. The prop hub broke (ground adjustable version not the VP) but the blades were unmarked despite have dug out a few sods of earth. The blades were simply bolted into a new hub and of it went again (with a new nose leg). I am very happy with it and feel no compulsion to change to the CS version. I get bored if I having nothing to play with! (No obscene comments please). Jim flew the plane for about 10 minutes, basically around the pattern. It handles and flies nicely! We do have some cooling issues to address. Jim & Heather will take turns completing the 40 hrs of flight test. Our Europa is a monowheel, 914 powered with intercooler, Airmaster AP332 prop. It also features dual alternators, built in oxygen, full IFR instrumentation consisting of Garmin 430 and Blue Mountain EFIS One and EFIS Lite. For Rowland ... the flight took place at Almena Airport, Michigan (2C5). It weighs in at 960 lbs (heavier than we had hoped). Jim & Heather started the construction in May 2000 and the total project consumed about 4500 hours between the two of us. We did the entire project including paint in our 2 car garage! Next are the glider wings! Correlating your build hrs with mine, it puts me at about the 80% mark which I think would be about right judging by what I still have to do !! IOW, I wont be making any announcements for some time yet (unfortunately). Enjoy the rewards. Congratulations! What an achievement as I know it's a winner. I thank you for your advice and help, and look forward to hearing more. The IFR fit must have been challenging. I hope this doesn't mean you leave the net 'cause I will surely have more questions regarding the second alternator........... All I ahve managed this week is building the trailer. Fuselage painted, wings sanded, controls next. Engine comes Tuesday. Wiring to go. 3200 hours so far, nearly all solo. Cheers! Ferg
