Hi Paul, yes that is one advantage of the monowheel, but with my Tri Gear
the approach etc is quite different. You can hold a good deal more power. Even
with the old Cherokee I fly it is important to get the speed just right on
approach - and that is definitely a non slippery a/c!

I am similarly wondering if the Europa Stall Warner in the front edge of
the wing would work as an angle of attack input.

Its well documented that changing to Evan`s will show a overall increase in
temps,
Articles by Philip Lockwood in Sportpilot give good reasons for this!

Put in search, ( Power on ) then article 49-52

I have had great success making my own bond able studs from left over fuselage
material (fiberglass foam sandwich). First layout the circles on the fiberglass
material to be used. Next, I used a hole saw to cut out circles of appropriate
diameter (the larger the stud dia the larger the circle). Counter bore
the back side of the material which allows the he head of the bolt to be flush
with with the backside of the fiberglass. Bond stud/fiberglass sandwich in place
with Redux/Flox. For vertical surfaces I use a very small amount of 5 min.
epoxy on the bolt head to hold in place while Redux cures. Be sure to pack
the Redux/Flox around the bolt head to prevent the head from turning under torque.
Give it a try...they work GREAT.

Hi All.
Did anyone make it to Enstone today?. The weather never picked up
enough here to get airborne - still hope to make Old Sarum tomorrow.

"I have seen this advice from quite a few pilots, but I wonder if any of
them
fly the XS, which sits at a shallower angle on the ground, and is more than
willing to keep flying at that attitude. In addition, the long tailwheel
spring is quite flexible, and can be easily bent downward (increasing the
angle of attack) with modest force on the tailplane. "
I don't think so. Actually the longer tailwheel bends up. The
real event is that at the same AoA near the ground, it will touch earlier,
and shortly drop the wing from flying lift, planting the wheel more firmly
and slowing the aircraft earlier. The dropping nose will reproduce the view
sought before takeoff, as ever.
Applying easy power to heighten the nose attitude will reduce
ground speed and roll by a few knots - important where required.

Patrick,
Five years ago I asked Don Dykins if his wing could be subject to a
modification for airbrakes that I already imagined and designed.
The answer was that this would have serious implications on the airflow so
that tests should have been necessary with a relatively high cost.
He suggested that there are plenty of possibilities to personalise your
aircraft without tremendous changes of his concept.
Respectfully I burried my airbrakes.
