Hello List,
After having most of my metal parts powder coated I discovered that KW screwed
me again. I am building a Monowheel and have a TriGear landing gear mounting frame.
This is the one without over center (centre) stops. Is there anyone out
there who is planning to build a Tri or Conventional gear that would trade their
landing gear mounting frame with over center stops for a newly powder coated
(white) frame?
You can contact me off list.

That is a "Bummer"
I had to look it up in my manual to figure out what stops you were talking about.
The new version of the manual has it clearly illustrated on pages 12M-3 and
12T-3. For all you "older kit" builder, the new manual has both Mono and Trigear
in the same binder.
I have a bent frame you could have that you could take measurement of. I had to
replace my Mono frame when I made my "bad" landing.

Hi Garry, I believe they are mounts for a Continental O-200 engine. Give
Bob B. a call he will know for sure.

While doing an annual inspection I discovered that the rubber engine mounts
had lost their elasticity, causing my engine to "sag". After 5 years and
400 hours I suppose this shouldn't have come as a surprise. It's time to
replace them. I recall reading on the forum a couple of years back, that
there was a Cessna engine rubber mount which Europa builders were using very
satisfactorily. If this is true, I can obtain the Cessna part much quicker
(and probably cheaper) than I can from the UK. Does anyone remember this
thread and if so can you point me to the Cessna part number?

I'm pleased to announce after too many years of building, Claude Tugwell's
(A039/N295LC) O-200 powered Europa has flown. Lee Omernik had done a
fifteen minute one in October but was cut short due to carb problems. Today
It flew for one-half hour and with the exception of a partially blocked
static system all worked well. It handles like all "classic winged"
Europa's, in a word beautifully. Claude has extended the span of each wing
by about eight inches and also added drooped tips. The roll rate is very
nice. Reminded me of G-ELSA/N512SA/N741JH handling, one of the best flying
Europa's As the static system was very slow to react I didn't explore the
low speed regime much but observed 110 knots on the GPS on a four way course
@ 2,300 RPM. This is with no speed fairings at all. Although the plane is
heavy it accelerates close to a 914 and better than a Jabiru 3300. Ground
roll was estimated at six to seven hundred feet which I'm sure can be
shortened. I'll post more as we get further into the test flight program.

Subject: | 914 Electric Fuel Pump Polarity? |

914 Builders:
I began to wire up the fuel pumps today and found out that the screw
terminals are two different sizes. This leads me to believe that
polarity is important but I can't find anything in the manuals about
electrical polarity of the pump terminals and there were no
instructions with the pumps. I'd sure appreciate it if someone could
tell me if the big terminal screw is positive or negative (earth/
ground).
Thanks...
Good building and great flying,
Bob Borger

Hi,
If your pumps are standard Pierburg pumps supplied with the Rotax 914,
positive terminal is M4 and negative is M5. If memory serves me right,
the top of the pumps is marked.
You'll find all the necessary details in the Rotax 914 Installation Manual.
If you don't have it, a pdf version is downloadable on my website :

Hop this helps,

Ok, thanks Jimmy!
I hope all is going well with you. I tried to get to the AOPA convention at
Peter O'Knight, but found out it closed Saturday and wasn't open today.

Ivor & Giles,
Thanks and Merci Beaucoup for the prompt assistance. As Giles directed
me, the Rotax 914 Installation manual has the important picture on page
50. It shows terminals M4 & M5 with the polarity indicated: M4 (the
small one) is Positive and M5 (the big one) is Negative - as Ivor
suggested.
Good building and great flying,
