Bob,
Under March 2004, Monday 29 I have acouple of pictures of the assembled unit
on my work bench. I don't seem to have any of it installed in my aircraft,
I'll keep looking to see if I can find some.

Hi Paul, Hi Tony,
just a question regarding the pressure sensor. Do you mount the sensor at
the lowest point possible or above max fuel level. The reason for this
question is: If mounted above max fuel level then how would you detect a
small air leak over time on a fuel tank? I would see the tank going empty by
just some very tiny air leak. If you have the sensor at the bottom level:
How chemical resistant is the pressure sensor and what is the possibility
that the fuel varnish inside the tubes and the sensor and causes a blockage
with the worst kind scenario a full reading on an empty tank? I am part
owner on a C150 with auto fuel STC. When we got the plane the plane was
sitting for a while and the fuel varnished and gummed up all the drain
valves etc. Also a EAA member brought a piece of rubberized fuel line into
our meeting. The fuel line was totally destroyed by the mogas.
Thanks

Cheers,
Another cry in the wilderness -
Ever since assembling the monowheel and retraction system, I
have installed the brake line, with a female connection on the bottom. The
lower brake cylinder has also a female connector, but without a double male
(maybe ell) connector, I cannot complete the line installation.
I have scanned the lists of components but can't find a
description of the brake line or its parts - perhaps even a double male
connection. I DO find the red plastic plug which sits in the lower cylinder,
but nothing similar for real.
Plea: Does someone have the nomenclature for the monowheel
brakeline system and components so I can see what they are?
Any gems of advice readily accepted with thanks............

Michael et all.
The sensor must be mounted at the lowest point in the fuel system. I Tee'd
off the water drain on one side of the tank. The sensor is mounted right on
the end of the T and I have it bonded to the floor of the aircraft under the
baggage bay on the pilot's side. The Electronics is mounted very close by.
The sensor is supposed to be impervious to chemicals. I have run auto gas
for 20 months with no ill effect.

Ferg,
Check out my build site (signature block). Go to Year #3, Q1 2004,
page 3. About half way down you should see pics of my brake caliper
and line assembled. See if this is what you have. Perhaps you can
see any bit that's missing. Like that little elbow maybe?
I hope this helps.

Cheers,
As for the cry in the wilderness, Bob Borger answered instantly
with pic #131 in his interesting photo log which showed the offending item
clearly, With that in mind, I rifled through a number of oleomargerine boxes
to find item #122BPAC, Quant. 1, Batch: N/A ,which looks a lot like the
offending part.
Bob, thanks again, and to the flock my apologies for taking your time. What
a list this is..........

Subject: | Technical question - master switch |
--> Europa-List message posted by: Richard Holder <rholder@avnet.co.uk>
Hi Team - a question for you to ponder
As a part of my plan to redo my panel I have
bought a "Cessna Split Master switch" red, as per Cessnas
and Pipers.
I was wondering whether anyone who has used one has any
commments about their reliability, and whether or not
relays were used.
I say that because in the Cessna application the battery
side operates a relay (< 1 amp) and the alt side switches
the field windings of the alternator (max 2 - 3 amps)
If this switch is used on the Europa (Rotax) to switch the
full flowing current (max 19 amps for the alt and maybe as
much as 25 for the battery) but is only designed for 2 or
3 it is likely to fail. Unless of course it is
over-engineered !
I have seen this switch in some Europas but I have no idea
whether they use relays. (To be honest I am not sure that
the alt side can be relayed anyway).
All your thoughts would be much appreciated. My existing
battery and alt switches are two pole toggle switches,
with a 15 amp capacity on each pole, wired in parallel.
Hope this generates some bandwidth !
TIA
Richard

Richard,
The battery side should operate the master relay. Don't even think
about running the main bus current through it!
The Alternator side will probably be OK to run the field for the
Rotax alternator.

Hi All,
I have decided to go in another direction so I'll be selling my AvMap
EKP-4. It is a large 7.5'' screen, portable GPS. All the major
suppliers sell and support them. I paid 1 year ago $1495.00 US dollars.
My plan was to panel mount it but I have gotten used to another unit so
I'll be changing my plans. Pleas contact me off list if you are
interested in making me an offer.

I have wired up two Europe's,and use that switch on both of them. The Rotax alternator
does not have a wire to disconnect it. The switch has been carrying the
buss load just fine. Remember this is a little airplane. Your battery is 18
ampere hours and the alternator is about 18 amps flat out at high RPM.
Yes, a buss relay is OK, but I did not use one. (can't fail if it is not there)
There, I feel Better ! :)

Paul,
thanks, this location is a great idea. I think the key here is that the
sensor sits right at the T and you have regular fuel flowing / flushing the
line which then would prevent the fuel to varnish if done so regularly. Do
you have a source for the sensor in the US?
Thanks
