Dear All,
Would anyone, preferably in the UK, at the building stage, be able to make me a
splash mould of the underside of the fuselage, just in front of the fin? For
some while I have been meaning to make a proper F/G inspection hatch to replace
the bent ill-fitting aluminium cover I have a present. Now I come to do it,
I have found difficulty in forming the correct shape where the hole is located.
I will of course be willing to pay all costs involved, including postage
etc.
If you can help, please email me off forum and I will give you precise co-ordinates
to locate the area.

Hi friends,
Maybe I have made something wrong.
The tie-bar is installed, the plywood blocks too (builder manual page 27-6 -
27-8).
Now I would like to fit the gusset plates, but I see no way to drill on the
right side the outer holes through the plates, tie-bar and plywood block, as
there is a tank stud in my drilling line.
Is there somebody out in the world, who could give me a clue how to solve
this problem.

I used a 12 inch long drill bit, once started you can make it curve slightly
to miss the Tank inlet,
works a treat!!
The other way is to use a pancake drill attachment, they work well in
confined places, Check out Ebay for used ones,

prop in place?
I gave up in the end and took the prop off but this surely can't be
necessary????????????????????

I spoke to Andy yesterday about my cylinders as there were still too
"sticky" to use. The problem was the lip seal which was too stiff for the
spring to move once it had been pushed down the bore. Andy sent me a seal
that he had on his desk of a new design and this arrived today and is much
better and does not stick. The narrow part is about 18.6mm as against 19mm
for the original and this seems to make enough difference.
When I rang Andy this morning he had just received delivery of these new
seals so if you are waiting for the stronger springs it might be worth
trying these seals instead.

You need to take the top cowl off first ! But I assume you
have done this !
Actually it is easiest if you remove the exhaust stub. And
be sure you have a blade vertical so that the other two
are equally angled downwards.
And if this doesn't work you will have to relieve
fibreglass until it does ! Taking the prop off every time
you take off the lower cowling is NOT sensible !

I have modified my lower cowling and I think it is even harder to remove. I found
that having the prop rotated with one blade more down and then the cowl can
be slid off to the other side. Remember the cowling is flexible so don't hesitate
to flex it a little. Two people were needed when I first removed it. Also,
I put a towel or blanket over the nose gear to protect the paint job.

Hi Bruno, this had me stumped for a couple of days, as I have the fibreglass
fuel tank I believe the access is worse.To the rescue came a mate who works
for a local airline, and from his toolbox he produced an airdrivendrill with
90 degree head on it. As it uses collets for the chuck it has a very small
head diameter, hence you can get close to the side of the cockpit module.
two weeks head scratchin', two minutes to do the job. About eighty quid to
buy, so you may need to be resourceful in your search to borrow one!
