--> Europa-List message posted by: "Jos Okhuijsen" <josok-e@ukolo.fi> Hi Bill, It's everywhere, a real nuisance. I am worried about the folks who do not have broadband, it will block their connection for hours. I tried to call Matronix, but got only an answering machine. Do you have a holiday or so over there? Any other possibility to get hold of Matt? I am happy that the parellel forum at www.europaowners.org does not react and holds to this flush! Kind Regards, Jos Okhuijsen workshopcam http://www.okhuijsen.org/plane http:www.europaowners.org/kit600 mono xs, top on, gear in, tail wheel in, wings set, flapdrive in, tail closed, tailwheel in, tail top in, blue stuff filled, sanded and primed, fuel system in, doors fitting.

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Vaughn & Gaye Teegarden" <N914VA@starband.net> I hope that they have stopped by now. After I got into my ISP and blocked them, I still ended up with 2,348 copies. I told Outlook Expess to send them directly to the Deleted folder and walked away form the coputer for an hour till they all downloaded. If they have ceased, I can remove the block. Otherwise I'll have to hop on a commercial airline and take a quick trip abroad to unplug his computer. Vaughn Teegarden

    From: "Matt Dralle" <dralle@matronics.com>
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Matt Dralle" <dralle@matronics.com> Sorry everybody. I stopped new incoming posts around 10am this morning, but didn't realize that there were something on the order of 5000 more sitting in the sendmail queue waiting to be delivered! I have purged all of those from the Queue now, so as of about 1:41pm we shouldn't see any more of those pesky repeats!! I'm sorry I didn't catch this sooner. I'm going to work on a filter tonight that should prevent this particular type of issue in the future. Subject: Multiple Posts
--> Europa-List message posted by: "Bruce" <bruce@justbruce.com> Europa guys, Sorry for the rant, but: 1. The presence of a problem with multiple posts was obvious. A. You could look at your own incoming e-mail and know there was a problem. B. And a quick glance at the Archive Search Engine, the 7-Day List Browser, or perhaps earlier today in the List Digest Browser (before Matt erased it) would have given you a double, triple, or quadruple verification that a serious problem existed. What is the decision making process in your own head that would make you then decide to add to the deluge, by e-mailing your complaints to hundreds of other list-subscribers who are battling this flood, that you too are battling a flood? And why would you shout about your problems via e-mail to Matt on this forum, when his trouble-report e-mail address and his personal e-mail address is easily accessed by clicking on the bottom of each and every one of the 2400 problem e-mails you guys allowed yourselves to receive. Where is the logic here guys? 2400 messages tell you where to complain, and yet you vent on this list? 2. Join the space age guys. If you use a product like MailWasher, a free spam tool that Bob Nichols of Aeroelectric fame recommends, it only takes a moment to spot problems like this and another 5 seconds to set it up so MailWasher erase all such e-mails up on your ISP's e-mail server. I downloaded a single copy of the e-mail -- and MailWasher erased all 2399+ of the others BEFORE THEY EVER GOT DOWNLOADED TO MY PC. 3. And if you don't have MailWasher or another suitable mail tool, take a minute or two and use the Rules Wizard in Outlook so that it deletes these as they come in. I imagine most other e-mail packages have tools that are equally easy to set up. Sorry for the rant guys, but let's get smart and not fill up the wires with even more unnecessary junk e-mails. Regards, Bruce XS142 Tracy, California

Subject: Apology for my previous e-mail rant. Helpful instructions
included this time. --> Europa-List message posted by: "Bruce" <bruce@justbruce.com> Guys, Sorry for the rant about using commonly available tools to take care of problems like we had today. And thanks to those who sent me private e-mails thanking me for taking a moment to vent what they also were feeling. I've had 4 private e-mails in the last hour asking me for more information on MailWasher and I=92ll send them a reply off-list. In my previous e-mail, when I said "join the space age", I was trying to be funny. My intent was to remind readers that it is fairly easy to delete this kind of flood with their e-mail software and that there is likely an even easier way to do this with your spam software. I didn't see this process as being intricate. My apology to anyone who was offended: I should have explained the simple steps. Unfortunately, this e-mail is even longer than my previous one, so hit delete if you don=92t want the instructions below I should have included in my previous message. IN MAILWASHER (or probably any other good spam filter): 1. Click on any e-mail in the list from someone that you wish to =91Blacklist=92. Click on the garbage can icon. DONE. I didn=92t see another =91flood message=92 till I removed =91Mau11@free.fr=92 from my Blacklist later this afternoon when I verified the following MS Outlook method below. IN MS OUTLOOK: (using a filter rather than the junk mail feature because we don=92t want to trash all e-mails from the =91Europa-list=92, just those from an underlying list-member such as =91Mau11@free.fr=92 in this case. I find it somewhat easier to quickly set up a rule to look for =91Mau11@free.fr=92 in the message header rather than the other method which requires you to first add =91Mau11@free.fr=92 to your address book. (not really that complicated =96 a bunch of quick clicks and the entry of the e-mail address you wish to filter) 1. From the =91In Box=92, Right Click on an e-mail whose sender you wish to =91blacklist=92 then Left Click on =91Create Rule=92 2. In the top panel: Click: =91with specific words in the message header=92 In the bottom panel: Click on the highlighted words =93specific words=94. 3. A box will open and enter, for example =91Mau11@free.fr=92. 4. Click ADD, Click OK, Click NEXT, Click on =91Delete It=92 (moves it to deleted items folder) OR =91permanently delete it=92 (obvious what that does) 5. Click Next, Click Next. Click FINISH to delete all FUTURE messages from the targeted sender. OR=85=85=85. 6. If you wish to delete as well, all PREVIOUS messages from the targeted sender already in your =93In Box=94 (even deletes those messages you saved to read later), then Click =91Run this rule now on messages already in the =93In Box=94. Then Click FINISH. DONE. (remember to turn this rule off when the need is over. If you turn if off, you can easily change the e-mail address in the future and turn it back on if another flood occurs. I used the first method for most of the day and I only saw 1 out of approximately 2600+ messages delivered to my PC. I used the second method (MS Outlook) later in the day just to test the method described on around a hundred messages. No problems.
