Meet-up days --> Europa-List message posted by: "Steven Pitt" --> <steven.pitt2@ntlworld.com> Bryan Just to advise that I will be there with William Mills for most of the show although I do not know which days in particular (we are assisting Andy and John with the Stand) and Peter Grant will be there for 7th to 9th and I expect will attend all days given his short visit span. By all means lets see when are the most popular days and the consensus seems to be 11.00am on each day will be the 'official' meeting time. Has anyone heard anything about a Europa specific parking area? I spoke with John Wheeler and he wasn't sure. He also expressed a desire to see "Baby Blue", so an area with all Europas would be great. At any rate, see you, who are attending, there... Jeff - N55XS 149 hours... --> Europa-List message posted by: "Thomas Scherer" <thomas@scherer.com> You know it ... "Canada is the better America". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ But apart from the Nation mentionned in the P-51 story - here is another off-topic, give-you-the-goosebumps-story: This was told by the son of Karl Hich, Captain of the LZ127 - the most successful of all German Zeppelins. The Airship (yes ... ship at 236 Meters length) has circumnavigated the world - just imagine: 101 hours from Germany to Tokyo nontsop - and travelled to the Arctic: On a cruise from Europe to Southern America the ship halted at 150 Meter altitude above the South Atlantic and the Captain stopped the Maybach engines. The sun was about to set. The windows were opened and Arthur Rubinstein played Beethoven's moonlight serenade on the aluminum grandpiano aboard. --> Europa-List message posted by: "Garry" <garrys@tampabay.rr.com> As a local (Tampa Florida), and a long time attendee of Sun N' Fun, it has been my experience that the first 4 days of the event are the most worthwhile. Towards the end of the show, many of the fly-in planes have departed.......particularly the warbirds. Also the vendors become exhausted after 4 or 5 days and are less likely to be friendly and/or helpful. On the other hand, the early days are also more crowded and it's more difficult to get access to the vendors. A little trick from us locals.............if you go the day BEFORE Sun N' Fun officially begins, you'll get in for free, and you'll see all of the planes on display as well as all the vendor booths, since everyone is completely "set up" before the event starts. The only thing you'll miss is the air show. Because everyone's schedule is different I think it's best if we simply say we'll meet every day at 11:00 at the Europa booth. From: rlborger <rlborger@mac.com>
--> Europa-List message posted by: rlborger <rlborger@mac.com> Paul, I purchased the alternator and supporting material through FlightCrafters ( http://www.flightcrafters.com/ ) for something on the order of $700. Since the Grand Rapids Technologies EFIS supports four CHTs and four EGTs, and they provide the hardware for all those sensors, there was no reason not to use all of them. CHT input uses the two sensors provided by ROTAX and two ring-sensors provided by GRT that appear to go on between the spark plug and cylinder head. The four EGT sensors are provided by GRT and they go in the openings provided by ROTAX in the exhaust manifold. Since I haven't mounted the engine yet (not too much longer, I hope), I can't say for sure where the cooling air will strike the sensor. I do plan to try to install some baffling which will attempt contain most of the cooling airflow across the cylinder fins and not let it get to the cylinder heads. We'll have to see how that work goes. If it does work, the cylinder heads will only be liquid cooled and it may be of some importance to have four CHT sensors. Great plans and all that... --> Europa-List message posted by: Horizonspace@aol.com After scouring the net for a source for a suitable intercooler for our Rotax 914, I stumbled on the company that made the unit used in the Europa USA kit. As requested by Bob Borger, I am posting the following information for those of you interested in purchasing one, here's the info: Model: A225066050EAV01 Manufacturer: Bell Intercoolers, Inc. Address: 1421 Carver Lane, Irving, TX 75061 URL: _www.bellintercoolers.com_ (http://www.bellintercoolers.com) Contact: Gerhard Schruf E-mail: _gms@bellintercoolers.com_ (mailto:gms@bellintercoolers.com) Telephone: 972-513-1674 The list price was 299 USD as of 11/05 Please note that the unit does not come with hoses, clamps or installation instructions. Bob Borger has a picture of the kit on his website and may post the instructions there soon. We bought hoses and clamps from turbohoses.com and cut to fit but you should be able to use auto hoses (as delivered with the Europa kits) for much cheaper. Tam Pho
