--> Europa-List message posted by: "Brian Hutchinson" <hutch@hangarbout.fsnet.co.uk> Hi all I've been watching this website http://www.antsol.com/ of a Europa builder with great interest, as he currently is at roughly the same stage as me. Unfortunately it seems to have ground to a halt at the end of January. There's no indication on the site as to who this is behind the dust mask! So who are you?? and can we see what's happened since Jan please, 'cos I think it's a great collection of pictures. Cheers Brian Hutchinson XS Mono 357 Busy on and under the cowling ....still !

--> Europa-List message posted by: "scrimm" <steve.crimm@stephenscott.com> What has everyone used to seal the threads for the elbow fitting on the slave cylinder on the mono. My seal blew out the other day and I am rebuilding the cylinder. What I did notice was that there was pitting on the piston, which I am going to replace, and that it looked like it had not been sliding straight up and down but with it cocked/not square to one side and sliding up and down that way. Thanks, Steve Crimm N42AH A058 ----------------

--> Europa-List message posted by: "Rmi Guerner" <air.guerner@wanadoo.fr> Karl, Have a look at Rotax Service Instruction SI-25-1997 Rev 8 dated December 12, 2005. It gives useful information on the trigger coils. Remi Hello Rmi, This sound very promising. My problem is that I can't find any reference to this trigger coil in any of the manuals or newsletters. What exactly is it for and whereis it ? Are you also saying that maybe there is no need to upgrade to the new starter motor ? I am just about to order one from Lockwood ($299.-), but maybe I should wait. --> Europa-List message posted by: "Rmi Guerner" <air.guerner@wanadoo.fr> bonjour Gilles, The kick back problem is more likely on the higher compression/displacement 912S, even when fitted with the heavy duty starter, but it can happen also on the 912 and 914. I experienced it with my 914 on a few occasions. Remi > Thx. for sharing input on CDI triggger coil gap adjustment needed on your > 912S. > > "I strongly recommend that new builder check their trigger coils before > they hang the engine on the aircraft." > > Has anyone found the gap needing adjustment on the 914s? (My motor is bout > 9 months old) > > No. Ran just fine from the start. As far as I know, only the 912S is reported to have starting problems. Not the 1200 cc engines. Regards, Gilles Thesee

    Subject: Rivet Squeezer
--> Europa-List message posted by: Andrew Sarangan <asarangan@yahoo.com> I've been using the rivet squeezer from USATCO for the handful of solid rivets found in the Europa. Compared to using with a vice, hammer etc.. this tool is a real joy to use. The results are very professional and satisfying. The tool is a bit pricey (I bought it last year for $100) part number 53-420-2A, but I think it was a worthy investment. I have squeezed all my solid rivets in the wing kit and never had to drill out even one. I got better results by setting one arm on a table, and leaning my weight on the other arm instead of trying to squeeze both arms simultaneously. It is also important to keep the tail centered on the squeezer, otherwise you will end up with a tail that is not perfectly flat. Just thought I'd pass this info along, because I have heard people debating whether a squeezer was worth the price or not. Andrew Sarangan http://www.sarangan.org

--> Europa-List message posted by: NevEyre@aol.com Loctite 638 works well, no chance of tape getting into the lines.Fitting can be removed with heat later, if needed. Cheers, Nev.
