      All,
As I'm going to use the Pip Pin cover mod, My question is has any one used the
stainless steel insted of the steel pins? link below.

      http://www.nordet.co.uk/stainless_steel.htm

The reason I ask is that I have the new style pins as in the link below

      http://www.nordet.co.uk/pip_pin.htm

these pins do not allow the changing of the pull ring at the top for a 18mm key
ring. The top where they fasten on is not drilled all the way through and I feel
as there is not enough room in the top of the pin to do so. The new stile
pins pull ring is too big to go under the cover mod. I could disgard the ring
but removal would be difficult. As the stainless steel pins are also in metric
sizes and would mean drilling out to 8mm to fit.

      Thanx In Advance

HP5500 series i am using, and as long as i can look at a straight angle at the
screen, all is well, even in direct sunlight. For that purpose i stick a suction
cup type holder to the side of the front screen.
By the way, the software i like to use is pocketfms, http://www.pocketfms.com
Which is running on both the pc and pda, making a flight plan a breeze. On top
of that, it is free to download or use, although a donation is appreciated.

Same here, Brian. Hacksaw to rough shape and sanding block the rest.

      Fellow Europaphiles,

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I do want to share the
news, so I'll just spit it out. "Baby Blue" (N55XS) has been named Best
Non-Certified Engine Homebuilt at Sun-N-Fun. Results was just posted at
      http://www.sun-n-fun.org/content/interior.asp?section=flyin&body=05flyin/2005awards
Mary and I couldn't be more thrilled.

On another note, response at the Europa tent was very good. Lots of
interest and I believe John and Andy were surprised at the interest they
generated. I look for good things to start happening in the US.

You might try a Surform rasp before the sanding block.

      Fellow Europaphiles,

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I do want to share the
news, so I'll just spit it out. "Baby Blue" (N55XS) has been named Best
Non-Certified Engine Homebuilt at Sun-N-Fun. Results was just posted at
      http://www.sun-n-fun.org/content/interior.asp?section=flyin&body=05flyin/2005awards
Mary and I couldn't be more thrilled.

On another note, response at the Europa tent was very good. Lots of
interest and I believe John and Andy were surprised at the interest they
generated. I look for good things to start happening in the US.

      Great News Jeff!

      Fanfare!

For those of you that have not seen Baby Blue I will tell you that it is one
of the finest examples of the breed to be found anywhere.
Jeff had expected some acknowledgment for his work. The judges kept
scrutinizing the craft over and over asking the right questions.

Photos of Baby Blue < and other SnF photos> will appear soon in my build area
      of the Europa Owners Site.

Again Congratulations to Jeff and his lovely wife. Well done!

Anyone need a nice 4.5" thermometer?

I purchased 2 new in box surplus 4.5" Weiss, think vapor filled -40F to
110F with 5 foot capillary length for $15, see info below.

I looked up in McMaster Carr
      http://www.mcmaster.com/
Then enter: 33125k21 in search, it looks close to C with 5 foot and 4.5
inch dial. The one I bought also comes with a nice aluminium probe flange,
looks like perhaps was monnted in some sort of duct on the flange?

Anyway much faster acting, easier to read and follow trends than the
digital I use now in shop. Pretty nice thing for $15.

As of 04-10-06 he has bout 20 left.

I talked to George, he said he will ship for cost. He takes all Major
Credit Cards, or will accept a check, and ship after it clears.

BTW How would one determin if the thermometer purchased was an oral, or
      rectal?

      THE TASTE!

Sorry couldn't resist, old ballooning joke from days of 5 inch hanging
      thermometers (that I still use).

Thanks Paul and others. The judges took one picture, which is not seen
at the site. Those I took are mostly around the campsite, though I will
be posting some on my build site at Http://www.n55xs.com Probably won't
be for a few days, though. There is a teaser that was taken at Cedar
Key, where Mary and I stopped for the night, though I admit that it was
only for the effect of the sunset and one other of the plane sitting on
the ramp at our chapter airport. You can see them here.

      Hey Jeff,
I just got home and read your post. WOW! Thats great and you do deserve
it. I hope to join in next year with the big Florida show. I only have
about 10 hours but time is really short right now.
The plane at 5500 feet yesterday was running at 125 KTS at 5000 RPMs on
the warp drive at 21 degrees. All the faring made a good 10 KTS
difference. Looking forward to seeing Baby blue beside Gold Rush this
      summer some where.
As you might remember there is not sexier airplane on the ramp than the
      Europa!
      Best Regards,
      Jeff
