      Hi All,
Has any one used Alodine 1200 as Alodine 1201 is not available, to treat there
alloy parts? I'm also open to other methods, as this seems to be a minefield.

      Thanks In Advance

Everything you need to know about these two Alodine products is at

      http://www.loctiteaero.com/Images/Datasheet_PDF/hst_alodine1200s.pdf

      and

      http://www.aerospace.henkel.com/Images/Datasheet_PDF/hst_alodine1201.pdf

The most significant difference is that the 1201 contains hexavalent
chromium, the stuff of Erin Brockovich fame, and purported to be harmful to
various animals, us included. Several years ago I bought a small bottle of
the 1201 from Aircraft Spruce but it may not longer be available.

It appears that the two products are functionally equivalent, based on a
quick read of these two documents.

      Best regards,

      Bob,
Thank you for the info. Looks like Alodine is Strong suff in many ways. This
may not be the best way to go. I'm also looking as Etch Primer which is readily
available from local auto paints company. Has any one used these spray paints?

      Thanx
      Richard Wheelwright.

      Richard,

May not be available in the U.K., but I found that the only self etching
primer that bonded well was the "Marhide" brand.
I got this at the local Pittsburgh Paint auto body supply store.
Other brands, including Pittsburgh's own in house brand really did not
      work.

I've used the etch-type auto primers on aluminum signs, without a

        Hi! Alan
I don't remember if you are Mono or Trike Type? But I'm attaching mine
for you to see. These are for my trike so I don't know how suitable they
would be for the Mono. Basically it is a stainless eye screw secured to
the block in the outboard Flap hinge plates with the eye arranged to be
just into the face of the fairing.
      Regards
      Bob Harrison.
