--> Europa-List message posted by: "Keith Hartley" <tarnish7@iprimus.com.au> Anyone in the Australian bit of the empire tell me where I can find a supplier of Ampreg 20 or, if that's no longer available as has been suggested Ampreg 22 or suitable acceptable alternative. Ditto Redux. Mine's all time expired. Keith Hartley

--> Europa-List message posted by: TELEDYNMCS@aol.com Hi everybody, While going over everything one last time before inspection, I noticed that I neglected to install the limiting washers on the pip pin for the wings. I did install the spring washer on the spar cup, but for whatever reason never completed the "washer limiter" on the cockpit side. I fiddled with it yesterday and realized that my pip pin is hitting something before the balls exit the spar cup hole. I can't see what it is hitting from the access hole in the belly and I can't see it from the side either due to the way I attached the wing root fairings to the side of the fuselage. I think it's hitting the aileron belcrank, though. Has anybody had any trouble with this? If so, what's the solution? I thought about just doing away with the pip pin altogether and installing a similar pin arrangement as the right side. Thanks! Regards, John Lawton Dunlap, TN A-245 (Taxi testing underway)

If you have, or suspect you have, a control being fowled, stop testing until it is sorted. I'm at work and away from my drawings and build, I'll look into it more when I get home. I didn't, but doing it makes sense to me and If I had to do it over I would have. Just my 2 cents worth. Jeff R. A258 Trying to fly the 40 off and smiling every minute I get to do it. --> Europa-List message posted by: NevEyre@aol.com Hi John and all, The pip pin MUST be fitted on the Port side. It is there to stop the end of the Starboard spar tang migrating aft under load, and pulling the rigging cup off the back of the Port spar, and jamming against the aileron belcrank. Under load testing, [ for the 1370 lb upgrade ] we established that as G loads are increased, the tang will move aft. The initial mod was to put the strap on the Port spar, to contain the starboard spar, but that failed to control the rearward shift [ admitedly at loads over 8 G], so the pip pin was introduced, this does, with the washer bonded to the rear of the rigging cup, keep it all together. The pin needs to be shimmed forward, with the thin washers bonded to the port seatback bush, so the balls are up against the washer on the rigging cup [ slight play is needed to ensure the balls always ''pop'' out ] The aileron quick connect belcranks will need to be trimmed, there is a drawing of that , somewhere in the Manual [ don't have one to hand] but once you have shimmed the pin with the wings on, take the wings off, and refit the pin, it will be obvious which part of the belcrank is in the way. Have fun, but do take care ! Cheers, Nev.
