From: Hi Ron there is a better way, (which gives more travel also,) makes it easier to get 13 degrees up and 5 down, 13 up gives more tailwheel authority on the ground. I made the stops as U shaped glass layups with rubber facing, you could use multi Vee belt from your old car alternator belt. I've attached a picture of Paul Stewart's stops off list. Anyone come up with a better up and down pitch stop for mass balance weights that absorbs energy in a slower fashion compared to the manual? My initial purchase of a 1 US gal can of the TCP is almost empty after nearly 500 hours and I already have my replacement supply of Decalin in hand. I seem to remember TCP was recommended by Lockwood Aviation for those of us who use 100LL on a regular basis. Does it do any good? I have no idea. I do know that the oil is full of lead when I change the oil (Valvoline 10W-40 Durablend semi-synthetic). Also my plugs always look to be in very good condition when I inspect them - no build up of crud. Re carrying TCP in the cockpit, I have been using a heavy wall camping fuel container which is made to be pressurised. See http://www.msrcorp.com/stoves/bottles.asp Thanks for the follow up recommendation regarding only 1/2 oz per 20 gallons. Did Decalin explain why Rotax needs less than the Lyc. or Cont. engines? (or it could be a day later start if anyone still working joins and needs to avoid breaking into another working week!) This will involve a fairly gentle meander round France stopping at places selected to offer good food & wine and touristic interest. Last years itinerary was: Troyes Le Puy Carcassonne Arcachon Angers (2 nights with a wine trip along the Loire in between!) Belle Isle. This year's route will be set once those joining the trip have given me their requests or suggestions. Each day's flying is deliberately limited to something in the 2 to 3 hr range, to allow time to look around the area or lie about in the sun and hopefully to encourage wives to join. The trip is ideal for anyone wanting an introduction to foreign touring as French airspace is as benign and safe as it comes. There is also as much help as anyone wants in dealing with flight plans, customs and other aspects of foreign flying. Anyone interested please contact me by email or phone 01454 260542 Regards, David Joyce ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 01:11:11 PM PST US From: "Bryan Allsop" Subject: Europa-List: DOTH Friday --> Europa-List message posted by: "Bryan Allsop" Brimpton looks good to me. I do not recall going there before. The freebee is in Pilot's April edition. It is a grass strip, and they = sell snacks. If the snacks are not up to much, we can always move on to = Enstone. Cheers. I cannot find the dimensions for the corners to be cut out in the manual. My manual shows them to be a proper rectangle, Could someone point me to that area? Or tell me the dimensions of the cut out? I would like to start filling and sanding. Best to make these cuts and lay up over them before I begin! Brian I'm pretty sure there isn't a dimension in the manual. You need to have constructed an extensive and heavily floxed corner, I have measured mine to be 2.25" fore and aft and about 1.25" inboard to outboard measured from the original corner so that when you have the rudder on full deflection and the tab also on full deflection with the stabilators also on full travel there is clearance. You could use my dimensions but should your set up require more then you won't be a "happy bunny" ! however you will have at least tried! That way you could have trimed off until you get the clearance without needing to close out the corner again. Best to use slow hardener though and keep it cool you don't want an exothermic event ! Sounds though you missed the bit about floxing the corner so you may have to wait till you've trimmed then close out and so delay painting or touch it up after.
