We are still a long way from flying or even commissioning the engine. I know the engines come prepared for storage but is there a time limit before we should be doing anything other than look longingly at it? They say someting has to be done after a 12 month storage period. But in my opinion, you better leave it alone and not open it before your are ready for installation, provided you stored it in a dry place. We too took a long time before installing the engine. Before I start to strip out all the gubbins between me and the generator to get at the thing, can anyone help by suggesting where I should look first for a possible minor faulty connection or whatever.? Initial searches have been non productive. Thanks. In my opinion, a fault in the alternator itself is very unlikely. The problem may lie in the wiring and/or regulator. Have you installed the required capacitor ? Is your battery in good shape ? We have discovered that the Rotax regulator won't sart to life unless submitted to a significant voltage. Is your rectifier/regulator correctly wired, and is it connected to a suitable ground with a wire of sufficient gauge ? The first check is to confirm it is not an indication problem. If the voltage at the regulator output is less than 13 volts at say 3000rpm the generator is not working as it should. If so the most likely culprit is the regulator. If possible borrow someone else's regulator to see if the fault disappears. This is an easy task and would only take a few minutes. Be sure the grounding connection to the regulator is good otherwise it can do damage to the regulator. If the regulator is not the problem and the output is still low then the generator coils or wiring from them to the regulator are at fault. Hope this helps. Easy and IMHO good looking. There was nothing for the outer door handles, for the rest it seems to be complete, and installation was easy. These caused me to fail to receive several messages which I know were sent to me. It may be that some were expressing interest in the Tour de France. Can I ask anyone who did email me who has not had a reply to copy the email originally sent, please? I am looking for one. Spruce have some which look like long thin strips with a BNC in the centre - easy enough to bond into the back of the fuse. The Bob Archer ones they offer also look pretty good but as they are designed for horizontal mounting, may be a bit harder to mount in the back without having to build a platform over the rudder cables etc. Can anyone who has installed a VOR please let me know what aerial / antenna you've used and any opinions about it. I believe that the instrument I'm going to fit (Narco 122) has a marker beacon receiver built in - any ideas as to a suitable aerial for this would also be appreciated. Regards Peter
