--> Europa-List message posted by: "Tim Weert" <tim.weert@hccnet.nl> Hi Gentlemen, I live very close to that Dutch factory. It would be wise to make a big list, as long as possible and order all springs together. I arranged 10 pairs for Jac van Heeswijk and payed them cash, so I didn't have to pay VAT. The price was about 82 Euros a pair. Jac has already supported them all to his Europa friends The more you order, the cheaper they will be because the cost isn't the material (stainless steel) but the "settings" of the machinery. 20 pair of springs will cost less than 10 and 50 les than 20. The only point is that I have to pay those guys cash to avoid taxes. I don't know what the prices are to sent it to other countries, but if you arrange mogas in the uk for me I can also fly them to the UK for you (Not to far from the channel crossing) for you in my Europa. That's a lot cheaper for a large number of springs toghether ans you have also the opportunity to see how it is fitted in my bird. The max load in the Europa is 40 kg, so I can carry +/- 40 piars of springs in one trip in my hold, if it should be more I can find other Dutch Europa friends to join me with their birds...... --> Europa-List message posted by: "Tim Weert" <tim.weert@hccnet.nl> Hi Clif, For your information, the springs we designed and ordered in Holland are the ones which were used to get the PFA approval. I flew them to Fairoaks last year myself for Ian and Ivor to get their UK PFA approaval. Our aircraft were used for the prototype springs and testing. The Dutch springs are the ones which set the standard. We made the modifications and if I order them for you guys, you'll get the specs. discribed in the Mod made via Ian Rickard for the PFA approval. Remember, it is the design of Nico Groot, kopied by me, Rob and Jac. Nico did the engeneering and we did the testing and pioneering on 4 Dutch Europa's. (PH-AMD, PH-IEN, PH-JAI and the PH-LOB) It is not a Factory Mod. Originally Andy from Europa 04 wasn't interested last year at Kemble at all (!), when I showed him my prototype springs. Ian and Ivor were the ones who made this Mod official in the UK. The higher the number I place in a order for you all, the lower the price. But, I do it for you, not for myselve. I don't want to earn a penny out of it. For me it is a hobby. If you don't want them, be my guest. It saves me a lot of time and effort.... Regards, Tim. A mix up can result in an engine that runs sort of ok, but not quite. Also, a big mag drop at higher power settings may also occur." Ron Parigoris

I used the wrong ones and they had a constant albeit slow leak. The correct ones were obtained from MATCO. They have black inserts instead of the white inserts supplied. Second, use teflon (TFE) paste to seal the threads, never teflon tape. Good Luck Ira N224xs non-leaking brakes at the moment

Mod 71 is "factory approved" and is therefore (relatively) free of paperwork. Unless the Dutch springs have "standard mod" status then surely a 45 mod fee will be payable? Use it, or lose it comes to mind. How long would the factory last if we all went and purchased parts direct from other suppliers? Simon

Without taking anything away from the Dutch guys who introduced the concept and the early springs, Ian Rickard and Terry Clarke, in the UK, have put a lot of work in for Europa 04, recognised by Andy and the Company, to design, supply and support Europa with Mod 71, at no gain to themselves. Please support the Company. Steve Pitt G-SMDH #403
