      Cheers,
Lurkers here will recall my "moan" in JAN06 regarding closing
cotter pins in the depths of the throttle stand. It involved reaching in 9
inches just under the tunnel top to a space of about 3/4" to bend cotter
pins safely. I received several novel and helpful suggestions, including
fisherman's pliers and various homebuilt devices - all of which sent in best
of intentions. For these I thank you.
The ultimate winning idea I cleared with my inspector and it
      was:
Those safety clips ('lock pins') used for finishing clevis pins. I installed
same with a 10" pair of haemostats borrowed from the "bones" next door. Took
5 minutes. I opened a tiny pore above these through which I can drop a
3/8inch mirror for intimate routine inspection.
                  Isn't this list glorious?

      Gentlemen.

Please accept my heat felt apology for what now must be one Billion bounced
      emails in your box.
Technology and a Texas Red Neck can at times be a disastrous mix.

In addition I would like to say that I did not receive one single flame from
anyone during this embarrassing time. I found that remarkable, given the
opinionated group of blokes that we all are.
It is wonderful be associated will all of you. It's great to be back!
      Thanks again to Matt.

Go ahead, laugh if you will..........
I never claimed to be a builder so the 'old hands' will be snickering, so I
address my self to my peers - both of them:

The bolts which attach the 'intermediate' frame to the mounting ring on
the 914 Rotax are hex-heads (not a slur) in that the heads must be held by
an 8mm hex (Allen) wrench. So I up and bought a kit with one in it.
Naturally, it is the only one in town and the 8mm is too long on one
side to insert and ditto for the short side because the long is now
interfering with the structure [except for maybe a 15deg twist, making it a
240-twist operation per attachment - or disassembly for that matter). We are
not counting little bits of skin on the floor.
I put up with this for a couple of on-off operations while measuring
truly vital stats for later on, but was running out of bandages - and
      patience.
As the old oberst once said, "Too zoon oldt, and too late schmart", I
suddenly had a vision. The hacksaw delivered an inch off the long side,
which was quickly emeried to Passing Standard, and the item inserted in the
head, while my locking wrench with the 8mm socket made it all the more
efficient. I am now 'on-ing' and 'off-ing' just for the satisfaction.

If this is an original idea, where are the accolades? And if not, why
      didn't you mention this earlier?

PS: Never heard of Binx before, but can we use them twice if they are
altered in order to lock on? If not where does one get the spares (hate to
bother John or Roger for this).

Cuz my 1/4" socket wrench set includes Allen bits.
And yes we all have shortened Allen wrenches in our toolbox, and we keep
the cut-off scrap, just in case ;-)

      Rotax dealer, I suppose.
BTW, why did you remove the ring mount ?
