Does anyone know if it is possible to get alternative banjo fittings
for the 914 fuel connections? I was hoping to stay with AN fiitings
throughout rather than the barbs installed on the engine.

Paul

Paul,
have a look into http://www.isa-racing.de/20061/Start.htm
Chapter:"Leitungssysteme und Zubehr". The catalog is in German-Language,
but pictures says more than words,...
I hope this helps,

Is there a US source for the AVK BLS4R11N wing pip pins? I misplaced one during
my recover efforts and am on the prowl for a local (quick) source
I have tried to sort a match and the only thing close the company wants min order
of 500. A few more then I currently need.

Richard,
You asked: "Is there a US source for the AVK BLS4R11N wing pip pins?
Is there a US source for the AVK BLS4R11N wing pip pins?"
Yes, good old MaMaster-Carr right there in Houston. Go to their web
site http://www.mcmaster.com/ . On the main page there is a section
on "Fastening and Sealing." Under that paragraph is a listing called
"Pins." Got to Pins and you should see the section on Quick-Release
Pins. From there, it's just a matter of picking the proper pin style/
diameter/grip length, etc. Once you know what you want, you can
order on-line or you can go there and visit them.
Great flying,

Hi all,
Has anyone already got a mod number for adding a JPI FS450 and 2x Floscan
201's to a 914 Europa?

Subject: | Carb. heater block temp. |
Having completed the ground testing and awaiting CAA inspection, I have
time to contemplate on one observation made:
The temp. indicator that came with Skydrive's carb. heater blocks for
912S shows block temp increasing as the CHT readings increase. When
reaching 50 degr. C, the indicator flashes HHH (as it is supposed to do
at this temp.).
According to Skydrive's notes, the carb. heater block temp normally is
between 20 and 50 degr. C. This is, I take it, in flight.
Here are my questions to those already flying with this equipment:
- Do the blocks cool down when airborne and operating the engine at
normal flying loads, i.e. when the higher fuel volume evaporation cools
the carburetors from the inside? Or does your temperature reading
always stay below 50 degr. C even when taxiing on the ground?
- Have you fitted any permanent restrictor in the branch-off tube to the
carb. heater blocks, or fitted the flow control valve that Skydrive
provides as an option, in order to keep the carb. heater block temp. in
the range mentioned by Skydrive?
Best regards,
Svein

I think the factory missed a wonderful oportunity here. I would have
designed the wing with bolt on tip extensions for gliding and semi short
wings for cruising. Lots of gliders have this option. The original wings
are not quite long enough for ideal cruise and climb performance, but
then Ivan is still obsessed with scarumbatics. (he's scared me more than
once >:o ) I prefer the more graceful aerobatics you have with long
wings not the brute force and ignorance of stubby wing aeroplanes,
Just my prejudice ;-)

Graham,
I thought you might be interested in looking at some "quick and dirty"
measurements I took. I looks like the wing is optimized for 120 knots. I
still haven't figured out the best speed to fly for maximum range.

Steve,
I disconnected the temperature gauge as it came on above 50C degrees
even when taxying. A higher 'ranged' gauge is required if needed at all.
Now use it as an OAT located in the Air Plenum chamber. Never had a
problem with the temperature of the blocks and yes, I suppose it does
vary as the CHT varies.
Cheers,
Tim
