Dave,
Thanks for reminding me of that one. Yes, I did at the time check for
damping grease here in Norway but without luck. I am afraid that
sourcing it from overseas will mean expensive freight due to "oily"
products, but I will look into that. Do you happen to know of any
internet supplier?
Best regards,
Svein

Martin,
as you know, the original Ducati regulators on Rotax 914/914 engines are not
very resistant to heat. I am looking since a while for a substitute and so I
am very interested in this regulator. Do you have more details about this
regulator?
Thank you.

Betreff: Europa-List: Dodgy Regulator - Update
Hi Folks,
I fitted my new regulator today - oh why did I use regular stiff nuts on
those bolts which meant I had to remove the panel?!
Ah yes, the joy of removing the panel. If I had to do it again I would do a
whole lot of things differently/better - maybe we ought to compile a
database?
Anyway, test flown and all is well - a steady 14 volts indicated throughout
the whole flight, which incidentally took me to my highest altitude ever in
my Europa 11,500 ft. Not bad for a 912 with a fixed prop. I was still doing
300 fpm.
Thanks for all the advice on the subject.

I have ordered a Schicke GR6 regulator and it is in the
mail at the moment. I will report back.

It was 82 euros plus 16 % German TVA plus 20 euros for
postage to England.
Look on the web site; the specs are the same as the Ducati
one, but some creativity will be needed to connect up the
wiring as there is no connector.!

Danni,
I recall I had a similar problem but used 90 degree bends and had to shorten
the last one fitted to allow it to clear the first one when screwing it in.

Svein,
TAI Lubricants at www.lubekits.com indicate that they will ship worldwide.
I have not needed any yet, but am sure that it will be necessary in due
course.
I was thinking of buying some for the flying school where my plane is
hangared, many of their elderly Cessnas regularly have shimmies that just
about shake your teeth out.

Hi all,
Some years ago I performed some bench tests regarding Rotax regulators,
the regular Ducati one, and the Schicke GR4.
http://contrails.free.fr/elec_ducati_en.php
The GR4 proved superior in many respects, so I installed it in our Rotax
914four-seater.
It has performed flawlessly for nearly two years.

According to Herr Schicke, the GR6 has the same specs as the GR4n but
thermal characteristics are better. Please note that the rated output is
about 16 amps, quite the same as the ACTUAL safe output of the Ducati.

No big deal with fastons on the wires. You just insert each faston in
the correspondig aperture on the wiring connector. Thus reverting to the
Ducati is a straight swap.
For those with an OV protection, be aware that the Schicke won't shut
down when the sense wire ('C' or 'skinny red') is disconnected or put to
ground. The setup is better as in the last Z16 update on the Aeroelctric
connection.

Hi Gottfried,
I just have the standard Rotax Ducati regulator. My original lasted around
200 hours.
I don't know of any alternatives.
