      Hi All,
Just removed the engine for Mod 72. I fitted G.S's firewall
mod, and I must say sealed it up beautifully :-) . Cutting away the
silicon sealant to get at the bottom bolts out was a b**ger. Shame mod
72 didn't come out two months ago before I fitted the engine. "Thats
life". Anyway while I'm at it I decided to replace the Evans coolant
with 50/50 antifreeze. Question one, Can I flush the engine out with
just water, or is there something else I should use. Two Any particular
      antifreeze I should use.

      Cheers Danny

P.s I have fitted the a coolant gauge

      Hmmm

Heard about this Company that has been coating 914 downpipes, collector
and mufflers that supposedly is holding up very good compared to some
other Companies that have less than stellar results.

They said they could do Turbo as well (have not done a 914 turbo), boy an
      air cooled turbo??

It will keep temps. down on exhaust. Use the 2000 degree coating. Rotax
certified installs often use wrapped exhausts, pain to inspect for cracks
(pipes and wrap need to come off) and wrap is heavier.

I see that they can apply a thermal dispersant as well, he said that he
could do an Intercooler and a Europa Radiator.

I may well be a taker on both. Any brave souls wanna let me know how it
      works out?

Evans supplies a wash out chemical that must be used to rid the system of
any trace of water or other coolant. No water is allowed to exist in the
      system before filling with Evans.

      Brian and all,

Danny is intending to remove the Evans and revert to 50/50.
No problem in this case, the Evans (propylene glycol) is water soluble.
Funnily, I seem to remember that some other coolant manufacturers see no
problem in mixing propylene glycol with water ???

As a follow up to the above posts I have been corresponding with Floscan on the
subject of ScubaSteve in Florida. He offers a 201B-9 transducer, which you might
think is similar to the 201A-6 or 201B-6 transducer that is designed for aircraft
use. It is not. Floscan tell me it is in fact a 20B marine transducer.
And of course, the cheaper 231 is a marine transducer too.

What are the group's thoughts on using marine sensors on their aircraft engines.

If I am to offer the genuine aviation 201A transducer on my website it is likely
to retail at about GBP 165.00 incl. based on a current quote from Floscan.

      Any feedback very gratefully received.

      Regards,
      Paul

My mistake. I believe Evans main reasoning is corrosion related.

      Paul, Alan & other Europaphiles,

I love the idea of an annual Europa Fly-In. Kentucky sounds great
but the date won't work this year as I already have plans for that
period. Perhaps next year. Same for Sun 'n' Fun this year. We need
to set it up a good year in advance so that we can be sure to leave
the date open. Personally, I really don't care where we hold it. I
just hope that N914XL is flying by that time!

I doubt there is any difference other than flow rate, even marine ones
aren't designed to run on or in sea water. Probably just a matter of
certification. In other words protection money for burocrats. (imho)

Rough River is where the canard boys, (me too) go in early October. That
event is a real buzz and that's what I suspect Paul is trying to achieve
for the Europa family. It's a super venue and once you have a group
of experienced flyers gathered it adds up to a fabulous occasion.

Hi Jeff - I finally got your panel pic to download. What a beautiful panel
      and interior.
Looks like a Ferrari in there (or at least a Lexus) with all that leather
      and woodgrain!
You gotta be nuts to be selling that thing!
Seriously tho, have you had any situations where the Trutrac got upset or
      confused
like greater than 60 deg banks? Would you recommend the GPS mod? What does
the GPS mod really do for you? Thanks!
