    Subject: Tow Bars
Hi All, I have been thinking of ways to manufacture a tow bar for my tri-gear. I am trying to avoid the lock on type that would produce a hole in the wheel fairing. I've been thinking of the lift type used on tail wheels. Interested in hearing what other tri-gears have used other than pulling on the prop base. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jeff Roberts N128LJ Gold Rush. 70 hours & looking forward to warmer days.

    Subject: Teflon hose assembly tutorial
    From: <rparigor@suffolk.lib.ny.us>
In case anyone is interested how to assemble Earls Teflon hose with stainless braid, go to this site and view three You Tube Video tutorials on the left side: http://myspace.com/earlsstore1 I have on order -3 Teflon hose and fittings from Earls for remote oil sender and differential airbox/carb float bowl fuel pressure on 914. Earls -3 and 4 is not carbon lined, but with little flow on these 2 hoses I am not too worried about static discharge pinholes in teflon. For most part am using stainless fittings and ends firewall forward, except the adapter they have for oil pressure sender is plated steel. I will put a restrictor in Banjo out of Fuel Pressure regulator, and one in the adapter going into the oil pump. I am using Aeroquip 666 -6 hose going to and from my fuel pressure regulator with a 10mm to -6 416 Stainless reusable fitting I made. Just a note Aeroquip does not advocate using a chisel on a block of aluminium to cut 666 hose, they prefer a saw be used. Ron P.

Subject: fire sleeve ~ the trick
Hello everyone, during my replacement of oil lines and returning to the regular Rotax 912 pistons I had to slide a tight firesleeve over some 2 feet of oil line. I remember in the old days how I spent hours twisting, pushing (and swearing) over this task. This time around a fellow builder introduced me to the aircompressor technique. Here is how it goes: You tighten the end of your fire sleeve (clamp it). Then push in the oil (or whatever) tube into the firesleeve. Have somebody then feed compressed air into the oil hose and insert the oil hose into the firesleeve. It will go in like a hot knive cuts butter ! Just keep the pressure on inserting ~ if you let go - the hoses will seperate with a nice 'thump'-sound. What you basically want to do, is to widen the firesleeve with airpressure while inserting the oil line. I got a nice tight fit and only had to cut off the clamped end of the firesleeve. Hope this is new to some of you and helps. ~~~~~~~ Reason to take the Xtra high compression pistons out again was an oil-loss which over 9 months I was unable to seal off. The engine would go through 3 qts of oil in 9 hours of flighttime. And since I will fly N81EU from Los Angeles to Calcutta this year, I need more than 9 hours of nonstop flying... Happy Landings ! <Thomas, N81EU>
