Hi Bob and everyone
Is there room to do Mod 72 with the engine on a sling but still
attached to its oil/coolant lines?
Cheers

No problem for me. I did mine on my Tri on Sunday and took about 4 hours
including cleaning up around the bulkhead whilst the engine was forward and
the exhaust off.
So concentrating about the mod (and Spurs playing Chelsea) that I forgot to
check my E Mails for Paddy's DOTH at Panshanger - drat. I hope you guys
enjoyed it.

Willie,
I can't say if the engine can be moved forward sufficiently to perform Mod 72 while
still attached to the coolant and oil plumbing. My engine was only about
1/2 installed when the Mod was announced and I elected to discontinue any further
installation work until the Mod was complete. I completely removed the engine
to do my work.
You will need a minimum of 20 cm, perhaps as much as 25 cm (10 inches or so) to
gain sufficient access to the frame to get the reamer and a wrench in there to
work.
Good building and great flying,
Bob Borger

Hello Simon,
Is it possible that you give me the manufacturer and PN of the flap motor?
Thank you

Mine has the zippy motor but the aircraft that I did my check out in was
much slower. I know that I have the "old" type but what was in the other I
don't know.

Subject: Europa-List: RE: Flap motor
Just before I shipped the aircraft over to the USA I fitted a new flap
motor as the old one had died. As you would expect (with my luck). E04 had
changed the design of the motor and therefore I had to re position the
mountings. Because of the tight timescale for shipping. I never got a chance
to flight test this motor until yesterday (yes I actually went flying..!). I
notice that the new motor seems a lot slower than the original. The time
from zero flap to full flaps is 17 seconds and retracting back to zero is 18
seconds. Has anyone else noticed this and is it normal with the later flap
motors?
Many Thanks in advance.

Got a few pics of shoulder harness attachments.
4130 chrome moly tube with solid 4130 TIGed inserts
Rollbar coated with hot linseed oil inside then sealed
Rollbar was scuffed and wrapped like a racing bikes ram horn handlebars
with 1 layer of glass and redux
3 UNI wrapped up and over rollbar back onto itself
Fairing behing rollbar is combo of Q-Cel and Flox with wire poly tube in
there for good measure
3 BID between Uni for download help out
Rollbar ready to install was a tad under 3 pounds, unfortunate I did not
weigh top of fuse before and after, but all said and done 7 to 10 pounds??

I use aircraft spruce and Areopxy. Keep the old stuff for non-structural things.
I've been using West system for fill and finishing I find it sands easier.
Epoxy is nasty stuff and you can build up a allergic reaction. Wear gloves and
don't touch the stuff with your hands, I can't stress that last point enough.
After a friends Cozy and my Europa I'm on the epoxy limiter...

I have been going though all the parts that came with the kit (A210) and I have
four gallons of Aeropxy Resin PR2032, batch Y1898 with three Qt cans of RH3660,
batch Y1901. Unopened still sealed. I believe it came with the kit in 2001.
I have heard that it has shelf life of 4 to 5 years. I asked John about it
and he said to buy new stuff. Do I buy the same epoxy or is there some other
epoxy that I should be looking at. I'm planning on going to the EAA school in
a couple of weeks. So I can learn the right way.
Do I buy it from Aircraft Spruce or is the a better place?

I DID have a nasty reaction to SafeTPoxy which was before AeroPoxy so I don't know
about AeroPoxy but I DO KNOW that JEFFCO is awesome stuff. Yes, you do have
to wear all the safety stuff BUT it doesn't stink hardly at all and it is almost
a blue/greenish color instead of that nasty brown that looks ugly. JEFFCO
has a slow and fast hardener. I recommed slow (1/2 hour) so you will have
time to do what you need to before it hardens to a friggin ROCK. AWESOME stuff
- I swear by it - and built an entire Lancair slow-build to prove it and NO
REACTION - of course I always use long sleeves and gloves and it does sand nice
with micro bubbles and cabosil but if you use flox, it is NOT so nice to sand
because FLOX is not a surfacer - more of a filler.

Completed Home grown 10mm to -6 Banjo for Aeroquip 666 Teflon hose with
conductive lining.
The 666 is smaller OD than other -6 hoses and allows me to plumb 914 from
201B Flowscan senders under Airbrake horn, through firewall between
footwell and UCMF.
Made it out of 416 Stainless, replicating Aeroquips reusable fitting
design.
I used Aeroquip Olive and Nut.

914 Modular Fuel System completed.
Sealed box contains 2 Andiar 375 Gasculators accessible outside aft of
port wing. Pleated filters on 375s have a lot more filter area compared to
Andair Mini.
Design is series with bypass, pump#1 can only draw through Gasculator #1.
Pump#2 will draw through Gasculator #2 only if pump #1 is off, or
Gasculator#1 is clogged.
2 fittings aft of Gasculator box are home grown tank water drains made
from 6020 aluminium, the forward one has a restricted nipple that feeds my
ground use only sight gauge.
I used a lightweight sheet-metal "Franklin" clothesline pulley to make a
smooth 180 degree bend.
4 bolts remove Modular Gasculator top, and 2 screws removes Modular Pumps,
1 Ways and Manifold.
