This is used by most of the glider manufacturers and is much less toxic than the old EZ Poxy or the resin system Rutan used for EZs. It's blue, not a variable dirty brown. It also has the best Glass Transition temperature of the hand layup systems. Graham SteveD wrote: > > I use aircraft spruce and Areopxy. Unopened still sealed. I believe it came with the kit in 2001. I have heard that it has shelf life of 4 to 5 years. I asked John about it and he said to buy new stuff. Do I buy the same epoxy or is there some other epoxy that I should be looking at. I'm planning on going to the EAA school in a couple of weeks. So I can learn the right way. > > Do I buy it from Aircraft Spruce or is the a better place? > [/quote:4c7a6c2e5b] > > > > > > > Visit - www.EuropaOwners.org > > > > > > > > > -- Graham Singleton Tel: +441629820187 Mob: +447739582005 ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:01:46 AM PST US From: "William Daniell" Subject: RE: Europa-List: Re: What epoxy should I be using So the MGS is a replacement for the Aeropoxy in all applications? -----Original Message----- From: owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-europa-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Graham Singleton Sent: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 04:55 Subject: Re: Europa-List: Re: What epoxy should I be using There is a resin system made by MG Scheufler in Germany, on the market in the US as MGS, The grade you want is R285. Different brands have different modulus of elasticity and other mechanical and thermal properties. Aeropoxy is what the designers of the Europa chose and validated. Use something else and you are totally on your own. If you want actual information on the shelf life of a resin system, why not call the company directly 800-421-1518 Ira N224XS ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 10:42:58 AM PST US From: Paul Stewart Subject: Re: Europa-List: Re: 914 Home grown 10MM Banjo 2 of 2 Ron Very neat solution. The only other way I can find to get round it is Speed flow (www.speedflow.co.uk) do 10mm banjo /AN fittings but the largest is a AN-04 see attached pics. You would need to put a -o6 to 04 reducer in as well - not ideal. At present I'm planning to stick with the standard banjo and a hose clamp. Regards Paul G-GIDY

My first thought was to make a 10MM Banjo to -6 adapter. You can see the middle mock up I hacked out of aluminium. A bit long but would have worked. Shorter and lighter is better IMHO. I'm not familiar with the US names and brands so you need to do your own research. http://www.airheart.on.ca/index.html are the US stockist of MGS resins. http://www.cozybuilders.org/ref_info/ check out Gary Hunter, he is the US epoxy guru, worked in the field for 25 years and is Bruce Bahannon's crew chief. Remember Pushy Galor? Pretty little airplane.
