At this stage I have my ailerons filled and primed and they will be very close to balanced by the time I put on the shiny stuff. Unfortunately I don't know the answer. Rutan had us add a limited amount of any extra weight to the outboard end of the elevator only (Long EZ) but didn't explain why. Must be something to do with the torsioanl resonance. I once bonked the stick (in roll) on my glider at around 90 kts, one wing bent up and the other one down. The resulting oscillation was weird, the fuselage rolled each way 2 or 3 times (damped) but the wings stayed level. Moral is don't assume you know what will happen. Some of you may be interested to know that I am now producing Mk2 SmartASS units that not only provide the features of the MK1 units (talking ASI, and audible speed director) but it also features an accelerometer that measures the G you are pulling and factors that into the speed director calculation. It works very well as an aid to preserving the "stall speed margin" as well as making flying a stabilised approach ridiculously easy. I must stress that the SmartASS is not a stall warning device. The Mk2 units also feature audible undercarriage and general alerts. As ever, technical blurb, prices, etc. can be found at www.smartavionics.com Cheers, Mark Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=101278#101278 ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 03:34:23 PM PST US From: Jeff B Subject: Re: Europa-List: Araldite 420 / Epibond 420 / Redux For you guys who aren't "married" to Araldite, I used Aeropoxy 6228. After 263 hours, some of it in pretty bumpy stuff, I've had zero problems. I used it in bonding the wings and windscreens. Aeropoxy's tech guy was very helpfull and says that the same product is used in the construction of the Velocity. Working time is an hour and it can be mixed with flox. Price, a mere $39 for a quart kit (two full quarts of material - parts A & B)... Jeff - Baby Blue 263 hours DuaneFamly@aol.com wrote: > I got my Araldite 420 A/B from Graco also. Is this so? If so what is recommended? What is the most durable stuff (for trigear)? I plan to run on AVGAS.
